4 – Batista V Triple H (Vengeance 2005)
One word pops to mind when I think of this match, and that word is barbaric. Triple H and Batista went to war at Vengeance, with former Evolution stablemates ready to end each other for the World Heavyweight Championship. The Game did an incredible job of making Batista look like the star of the decade, putting him over clean. Triple H was out to win back his title, after losing it to The Animal at Wrestlemania 21, and failing to regain it at Backlash. This was the final chance for The Game to win back his title. Chains, chairs and barbed wire all come out to play in this affair, as the two men found new ways to inflict more damage on the other. Instead of going for one huge spot, the two opted for a more physical, brutal match. Stiff strikes were delivered throughout, only becoming more savage as the match wore on. At the end of the match, Batista hoists Triple H up for a Batista Bomb, and despite the fact that he has a sledgehammer in his hands, he can’t quite hit Batista fast enough and is dropped to the mat. The two made peace backstage after the match, signalling the end of a wonderful feud. A gruelling match and a new top star is certainly enough for this to be one of the best meetings to ever take place inside the cell.
3 – The Undertaker V Edge (Summerslam 2008)
This isn’t the last entry from The Deadman, so get used to it. Taker squared off with Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship inside the cell at Summerslam 2008, and as you’d imagine, it was magnificent. Edge put The Undertaker through hell in the weeks before this match, and on that night, all the fans wanted to see was The Phenom tear The Rated-R Superstar to pieces. The two men made brilliant use of the cell around them, not to mention the amount of weapons that come into play during the match. Tables, chairs, ladders, steps. You name it, they had it. Edge really solidified himself as a top class star in this affair, with his creative offence and masterful selling shining through. The brilliant moments just kept coming and coming in this match. Edge’s dive from the ladder through The Undertaker. The Spear through the announce table. The Last Ride being countered into a Spear. Then came the moment of the night. Undertaker delivering a Chokeslam to Edge from the turnbuckle to the outside, through two tables may I add. The finish of the match was perfect too, with Undertaker hitting Edge with a camera and a chair, not being content with the aforementioned Chokeslam. The Deadman once again showed why he’s the best cell performer of all-time.
