Roman Reigns is one of the biggest stars in wrestling today. Ranking highly on multiple lists, including first on PWI’s Top 500 and first on Wrestling Republic’s own list. The Head of the Table has been chosen as the first wrestler of the day because he defeated Logan Paul in the main event of the Crown Jewel Premium Live Event.
While Roman Reigns is one of the biggest stars in wrestling, this wasn’t always his chosen path. Reigns got his start as an All-ACC defensive lineman at the University of Miami. After briefly playing football professionally, the man shoot known as Joe Anoa’i made his way over to wrestling. Now known as Roman Reigns, he spent time in Florida Championship Wrestling. This was just as WWE was making the transition into NXT as its developmental territory.
Reigns then made his debut on the main roster alongside Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose (Jon Moxley). While he won several titles as a member of the Shield, Reigns hit his stride when he turned heel and partnered with Paul Heyman and his cousins, the Usos. This began his dominant reign (pun intended) as champion. As of the date this article was published, Roman Reigns has been Universal Champion for almost 800 days and WWE Champion for more than 200.
