AEW EVP Nick Jackson has come to the defence of ‘Hangman’ Adam Page following CM Punk slamming him in a recent ESPN interview.
On tonights premiere episode of Collision, CM Punk will finally make his return to AEW programming after a long absence due to injury, media scrum controversies, and a backstage confrontation.
The backstage confrontation included Nick Jackson, who himself returned from suspension in November. Although Hangman Adam Page was mentioned in the media scrum, he was not involved in the altercation and faced no suspension.
Punk and Page’s feud over the AEW World Championship in 2022 created quite a buzz. During an unscripted moment leading up to their match, Page accused Punk of lacking dedication to AEW and contradicting his proclaimed support for workers’ rights. Eventually, Punk triumphed over Page at Double or Nothing to claim the title.
Tensions Between CM Punk & Hangman Page Escalated
Months later on AEW Dynamite, Punk extended a challenge for a rematch to Page, fully aware that the latter wasn’t present at the event. Punk publicly lambasted Page during the media scrum for not accepting the challenge, resorting to derogatory language by calling him an “empty-headed f**king dumb f**k” and denouncing their match as lackluster.
In a recent ESPN interview, Punk made further allegations against Page, claiming that their 2022 feud had been “poisoned” by him. Punk even claimed that Page deliberately chipped his tooth with a forceful chop during their match. Punk argued that Page’s deviation from the planned segment on a “Dynamite” episode before Double or Nothing eroded the trust necessary for their subsequent match.
Nick Jackson Defends Hangman Page
Page, choosing not to discuss the events surrounding All Out, opted for silence. However, fellow AEW wrestler Nick Jackson came forward to express his unwavering support for Hangman Page.
Taking to Instagram, Jackson showered praise on Page’s wrestling prowess and highlighted his exceptional character as a human being. Jackson posted “Not only is he good at wrestling but he’s an even better human being,”, while tagging Hangman Page’s account
Since the physical altercation with Punk following his comments during the post-All Out media scrum, the Young Bucks, including Nick Jackson, have remained tight-lipped.
As CM Punk prepares to make his long-awaited return to AEW, tensions with Hangman Page seem to remain unresolved.
