Warrior Wrestling have exclusively told Wrestling Republic that the Warrior Wrestling Stadium Series 2022 was cancelled due to personal issues in the owners life, along with issues surrounding staff burnout and disappointing ticket sales. Warrior Wrestling owner Steve Tortorello was a guest on Wrestling Republic’s Soul Sessions this week. A new report from the Wrestling Observer has revealed that the AEW backstage drama is worse than many thought. This has led top stars to be ‘close to breaking point’ following the latest CM Punk situation. In this weeks Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer detailed the backstage issues in AEW. WWE have announced NXT Europe to replace the existing NXT UK brand starting in 2023. A Worlds Collide show between NXT & NXT UK has also been announced for September. The new NXT brand will reimagine the existing NXT UK structure, as WWE expand NXT worldwide. Japanese wrestling icon Kazuchika Okada has won the NJPW G1 Climax for the fourth time, after defeating Will Ospreay. The two put on an instant classic which went just over 30 minutes, in the Nippon Budokan. Okada defeated his former teammate after hitting the Rainmaker, just shy of the 35 minute mark. This marked the second consecutive year of him winning the tournament, and fourth time in his career. The 34 year old previously won the G1 Climax tournament in 2012, 2014 & 2021. The future of WWE’s NXT UK brand could be in jeopardy following cancelled tapings and multiple stars moving to the U.S. On last nights WWE NXT Heatwave special, multiple NXT UK stars appeared on the NXT 2.0 brand. This included Gallus, Blair Davenport, and Tyler Bate. This comes just a week after WWE were forced to cancel their upcoming UK TV tapings. WWE have announced that over 90,000 WrestleMania 39 tickets were sold within the first 24 hours. WWE Executive Vice President Paul Levesque, better known to fans as Triple H, announced this was a 42% rise from the previous year. “In nearly 40 years, we have never sold that many WrestleMania tickets that fast,” Levesque proudly revealed. “With those record numbers, we are tracking toward sell-outs with passionate fans at SoFi Stadium for both nights.” WrestleMania 39 will mark the first WrestleMania in history without Vince McMahon in charge.
