Well to say WWE is seriously firing people would be an understatement but this has just been insane. This is now the third round of releases since WM and there are even rumors this isn’t even the final cuts of 2021. WWE has been releasing talent after WM for years but not like this and with them going on the road in a few weeks it leaves us wondering who will be left to perform and the 2K people must be having panic attacks because the latest WWE game is scheduled to come out presumably in the Fall at it will either have a severely reduced roster or a lot of former talent in a out of date roster.
So allow me to give my thoughts only on the bigger names and where I think this talent may wind up:
1) Tony Nese
This release in my opinion is a major mistake as I have detailed in this article. He is a tremendous talent and every wrestling promotion on the planet should be making a run to sign him, Aleister Black and Buddy Murphy as these are the most talented and underappreciated talents that WWE stupidly let go. Nese is one of those talents that could go anywhere. AEW would be stupid not to try and sign him but I’m not sure if that is the best place for him creatively as they already have a lot of talent that they are struggling to book as it is but if they had creative for him I’m confident he could pull it off. Impact’s X-Division could certainly use him and it may be a smart move for him to breakout there as their roster is much thinner. He might be able to do well in ROH but I don’t know if they could sign him if there is a bidding war. I don’t see him going to MLW, or NWA, although a feud with Aldis over the NWA title would be fun to see. I don’t see him going to NJPW because he has two small kids and I can’t see him wanting to move or spend significant time in Japan. So his most likely landing spots are AEW or Impact in my opinion. Unless WWE wises up and re-signs him like they did Samoa Joe.
2) Ariya Daivari
A solid talent that probably didn’t get a lot of exposure because not a lot of people watch 205 Live. I think his most likely landing spot is Impact. He could go to ROH or MLW but I don’t think AEW will make a play for him. I think it will likely be the smaller promotions.
3) Breezango (Tyler Breeze & Fandango)
An entertaining tag team that I thought were doing really well in NXT. The release of Breeze hit me hard as I love him on UpUpDownDown and since WWE owns it I’m not sure if we will still see him on it. Now I think it is most likely they will go together but they could sign with different promotions. Breeze runs a wrestling school with AEW’s Shawn Spears so AEW is certainly a possibility for them. Impact is certainly a possibility as well since it is run by Canadians and of course Breeze is one. I personally would love to see them go to ROH to team with Dalton Castle since their gimmicks are very similar and go for the 6-man titles. I think the most likely landing spots are AEW or Impact or ROH.
4) Killian Dain
This release was a bad one in my opinion as he was doing a fun angle with Drake Maverick in NXT. He is a hell of a talent that I could see a number of companies making a run at him. I think the most likely is Impact since he had a run with Impact’s Eric Young and Fulton in Sanity in NXT/WWE.
5) Curt Stallion
I could see ROH or MLW being likely landing spots for him.
6) Bollywood Boyz
I could see Impact picking them up.
