I’ve been a wrestling fan since 1998 and I'm very interested in the history of the business. Besides wrestling, I also enjoy comics and collectibles associated with comics, wrestling and overall pop culture particularly from the 80s and 90s. My articles provide history and an unbiased take on wrestling. I’ve been writing for the Wrestling Republic as an opinion writer since June 2021 and have been the Head Opinion Writer since February 2022.

A wrestler could have all the talent in the world, but the talent needs the proper outlet to showcase it. If the promoter doesn’t give the talent the opportunities they deserve, then the promoter is not only doing a disservice to the talent, but the promotion itself because it is not getting the maximum payoff from the talent (investment) that they could be getting. AEW has a very deep talent roster to the point that it is questionable if the roster is too large because they have limited TV time and cannot feature all the talent on TNT or TBS. AEW does…

It’s been a long time since WWE has used iconic cryptic videos, but when they do it creates a buzz WWE embraced cryptic videos over the years hinting at someone’s debut or return and were notorious for including little easter eggs that the fans would immediately try to decipher. The most notorious ones from the past are probably Chris Jericho and the Undertaker, who have had multiple ones over the years. Fans dug so deep into Jericho’s 2012 return video that they were looking for things not even there: “They were looking too deep into it – WAY too deep. It was…

It is now time for my June 2022 best matches of the month list. Please keep in mind these are just my opinion of the best matches I saw this month and is not a definitive list and is not the official Wrestling Republic ratings and rankings. I’m sure there are matches that I may have missed but there are only so many hours in a day and only so much wrestling I can watch. So, please feel free to suggest matches in the comments, as it is possible, I haven’t seen them or maybe they just didn’t make my…

It is often talked about a wrestler having an unexplainable IT factor or a young talent being a potential diamond in the rough and Josh Briggs is one of those talents in my opinion. Now, Josh Briggs may be considered an unexpected potential diamond to some fans and others may not consider him a potential diamond at all. I fully get that some fans may not see the potential of Josh Briggs, however, as someone that has followed his career prior to NXT 2.0, he consistently reminds me of a certain WWE HOFamer, JBL’s early career, look and style. The…

Some wrestlers can be successful as both babyfaces and heels, but some are better as one over the other and to me Christian is at his best as a heel. Career: In my opinion, Christian is an absolute legend in this business and should have been inducted into the HOF years ago, but he has never gotten the respect he has deserved. Often viewed as just “a good hand” or “upper mid-card at best”, this stigma has followed him his entire career, especially when he was in WWE. Christian showed the world night after night how hard a worker he…

The best anniversary shows should honor the past while also embracing the future and, in my opinion, this show had the perfect mix of both. When you look at the history of TNA/Impact Wrestling, this has been a promotion that everyone from fans and “experts” all said they won’t last, but 20 years later they are still alive and kicking. No promotion made more bizarre booking decisions, change over in rosters, TV network cancellations, backstage turmoil and ownership changes, but despite all this has survived. It is a promotion that I think is often overlooked but is producing some of the…

Some wrestlers just have a chemistry together that they could literally fight forever and will always create magic together and Seth and Cody are two of those people The Rollins vs Rhodes Saga So Far: The chemistry that Cody and Seth have together is not something that can be manufactured or taught, it is something that you really cannot define, but when these two future HOFamers get together they create magic together and as a fan you can see and fell that you are watching something special. From the very beginning of their feud, before Cody was ever revealed as…

AEW should be stoking the flames from the hottest promo in wrestling and not let it flame out Now let me be clear, I’m well aware that it is incredibly early to say AEW is dropping the ball with this, but in my opinion, there have already been missed opportunities and mistakes that could have helped make this angle better. I will lay out below, what mistakes I think they have made and things that I would strongly suggest that they do that could add to this angle Over the past few weeks, I have written multiple pieces on MJF,…

Wrestling championships should always have meaning and prestige and shouldn’t just be participation trophies that everyone has one. Now let me begin by making it perfectly clear that this is certainly not a problem that is exclusive to AEW, WWE has a gigantic problem with having too many championships as well. In fact, I wrote about WWE having this very same problem a year ago. The problem that both companies have is that they only have limited TV time in order to showcase these championships and often times it leads to championships either not being featured at all or rushed or squeezed…

There are those that claim to have heart and passion for this business, but then there are those that prove it in the ring What we witnessed last night was just simply unbelievable. This trilogy and particularly their performance in the finale last night reminds you why you became a fan in the first place and why you are still a fan. These men gave everything they had in the ring last night and cemented their legacies in this business. This is the only feud that I can recall in my 24 years as a fan where every match in…
