Much to the surprise of everyone, the lumberjacks in the match between The Miz and Damian Priest last night at WrestleMania Backlash…….were zombies.
It was later revealed that the reason for the zombies was to promote the upcoming ‘Army Of The Dead’ movie produced by Zack Synder, which stars WWE legend Batista.
Earlier in the day Batista foreshadowed the appearance of the zombies by taking to Twitter to say ‘Wishing good luck to all the WWE Superstars competing tonight at #WMBacklash . Sorry I couldn’t make it … but some of my friends will. #ArmyOfTheDead @WWE’

The appearance of the zombies created outrage from fans across social media, however they weren’t the only ones to react.
Last week it was reported that a source in WWE claimed that the AEW Blood & Guts match starring Chris Jericho set the professional wrestling industry back 30 years. After the zombies appearance at Backlash, Jericho took to Twitter to mock this saying ‘Zombies…ZOMBIES? Wow that just set wrestling back 30 years.’

Former WWE star Hurricane Helms also took to Twitter, however he defended the match saying ‘I thought the zombie stuff was fun. If you didn’t, maybe you’re not fun. 🤷🏻♂️ Absolutely loved the last two matches. The sleeper though was Sheamus/Ricochet. That match was just badass!! #Backlash’

Current WWE commentator Corey Graves called the action during the match, but he revealed he was just happy that he could reference plenty of zombie movies, saying ‘Upon further thought, @DaveBautista allowed me the opportunity to reference plenty of zombie movies, and the mall I grew up working in. Thanks, Dave’

Finally current WWE star Drew Gulak formally applauded the zombie angle, saying ‘I would like to formally applaud the Hoard of Zombie Lumberjacks™ for properly obeying the rules of the match. They remained outside the ring for the duration of the bout and attempted to keep both competitors inside without showing favoritism. 👏👍’
