Saraya has addressed on the day she suffered her neck injury, claiming she recalls seeing Sasha Banks crying when the injury happened.
Saraya made her long-awaited return to wrestling television last month, making a shocking appearance during the AEW Dynamite Grand Slam special.
The 30-year-old wrestler from Norwich, England signed with AEW after many years competing for the WWE, where she wrestled under the name Paige and became a 2-Time WWE Divas Champion.
However, during a recent interview with fellow AEW Star Chris Jericho at his ‘Talk Is Jericho Podcast’, Saraya reflected on the devastating neck injury that put an end to her WWE career. When addressing on this, Saraya said:
“My neck just friggin snapped back like I was in a car crash. And then I was like paralyzed for like a couple of minutes, which is the most terrifying thing.” (H/T RingsideNews.com)
Saraya continued by stating, “I just remember laying there, and then I didn’t cry, but I knew instantly I was just like, ‘This is it like I’m done? Like, I’m toast, right?’ I look over and I see Sasha [Banks], Bayley and there’s Mickie James and everyone. They were just crying. I look at Mandy and Sonya, and they were crying.” (H/T RingsideNews.com)
Saraya & Her Current Role In AEW
Ever since making her first appearance in the company, Saraya has seemingly started a feud with Britt Baker. Both women started to trash talk each other and then proceeded to engage in a series of physical brawls.
However, there is not anything official yet of if Saraya has the medical permission to compete. Additionally, Saraya herself had commented on her wish of taking the situation slowly and be smart about it.
So, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens next. Make sure to stay tuned to Wrestling Republic for more.
