WWE star Angelo Dawkins has responded to some fans wanting the Street Profits to split up to see a Montez Ford singles run.
The Street Profits, former NXT Tag Team Champions, made their move to the main roster in 2019 and quickly secured the Raw Tag Team Championship. However, they haven’t held the gold in over two years, leading to speculation about their individual careers. Yet, Dawkins remains steadfast in his belief that they can achieve their goals while supporting each other.
In a recent interview on the Masked Man Show, Dawkins addressed the disrespect he has faced and expressed his unwavering support for his partner. He explained, “I have no problem stepping off to the side and letting my boy shine. The talk about me was starting to get a little disrespectful… Now, I’m a different guy. I’m a little more woken up.” Dawkins acknowledged the encouragement he received from Ford and his wife, fellow WWE star Bianca Belair, to step up and prove the naysayers wrong.
How The Street Profits Can Succeed Without Splitting Up
In another recent interview on The Ringer Wrestling Show, Dawkins dismissed the notion of a breakup, drawing inspiration from the success of The New Day. He expressed, “We’re always going to have each other’s backs… I think we can have each other’s back and then we have our side missions, going out there and putting on shows by ourselves.”
Dawkins revealed that he relished his opportunities as a singles competitor, highlighting his bouts against Seth Rollins and Damian Priest. Despite the speculation of a potential split, Dawkins firmly believes that The Street Profits can achieve greatness without parting ways. He emphasised, “I think everybody is just fascinated with everybody breaking up. It happens everywhere. It happens in basketball, football, baseball, sports in general. Music groups start as groups and then they break off and you have that one dude who ascends. For us, we’re trying to do what the New Day did. We’re always going to have each other’s backs” (H/T Fightful)
While fans may be fixated on the idea of a split, Dawkins maintains that he and Ford can continue to work together, both as a tag team and as individual competitors. With their unwavering support for one another, The Street Profits are determined to make their mark and prove that they can achieve greatness without sacrificing their partnership.
