CM Punk has broken his silence on his rant following All Out 2022, admitting he has apologised to AEW CEO Tony Khan.
In the aftermath AEW’s All Out 2022 event, wrestling fans awaited the customary post-show media scrum for answers. Opening the press conference was Tony Khan, accompanied by a battered and fatigued CM Punk, freshly crowned as the AEW World Champion. However, before queries could be directed to them, Punk took the initiative to pose a question of his own to the gathering. He inquired, with a show of hands, who among them considered themselves journalists and if Nick Hausman was acquainted with Scott Colton, better known as Colt Cabana.
Despite Hausman expressing a lack of affinity with Cabana, Punk proceeded to critique wrestling journalists who had perpetuated a rumour regarding Cabana’s removal from AEW television. Sharing his experiences with Colt, Punk even revealed the surprising fact that Cabana shared a bank account with his own mother. Emphatically, he disavowed any involvement in Cabana’s departure from AEW, firmly stating, “I have f*** all to do with that.”
Expanding on his tirade, Punk placed much of the blame on the shoulders of the company’s Executive Vice Presidents (EVPs), Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks. He suggested that they were likely behind the rumors, orchestrating a hit job, and went on to criticize their managerial abilities. Adding fuel to the fire, he launched a scathing attack on Hangman Page, labeling him as an “empty-headed dumb f***.” This stemmed from Hangman’s previous promo in May, where he seemed to have taken matters into his own hands on national television. Punk further challenged anyone with a problem to confront him directly, exclaiming, “Let’s f***ing go!” Little did Punk anticipate the consequences his words would soon bring.
What Has CM Punk Said To Tony Khan?
In a recent article published by ESPN, CM Punk finally broke his silence on the events that transpired at the All Out press conference in 2022.
Expressing remorse for his actions during the media scrum, CM Punk has since offered an apology to Tony Khan. According to Punk, his relationship with the AEW president is now “great.” Reflecting on the incident, Punk acknowledged his frustration and disappointment at the lack of action taken, leading to his outburst. He admitted to mishandling the situation due to high tension and personal disappointment, stating, “I regret that and I handled it the wrong way, 100%.”
“The first thing I said to Tony when I sat down with him and spoke to him after it was, ‘Man, I’m really sorry I put you in that position. I apologise for the scrum. But when you’ve watched that scrum, you’re looking at a very, very frustrated guy who had told people. That’s not the first time he heard all that. It’s not the first time lawyers were told all that. And I was just looking for something to be done and nothing got done. So, if you want something done right, you got to do it yourself. And I just didn’t approach it in the right manner, but tension was high. I was very, very pissed. I pretty much knew that I had just injured myself again. I was hurt, and I was disappointed. Yeah, it’s very easy for me to say I regret that and I handled it the wrong way, 100%.”

Punk went on to say that he believes what happened in Chicago at the All Out press conference was overblown, and it has been exacerbated due to his injury absence.
“I don’t think what happened was a big deal…” Punk said. “This has happened in the last 10 months in hockey, in basketball, in baseball, in just about every sport. And it’s covered and it’s gone the next day. I think because I have injured my tricep and I’ve been out for so long, I think it has been exacerbated. I think it’s been exacerbated by people spreading lies about the whole thing. And when, in reality, my attitude is, well, s— happens.”
