Since returning at AEW All Out, MJF has reestablished himself as the company’s top heel. Having been on hiatus due to contract disputes, he made his return by winning a shot for the AEW Championship.

He has not yet decided on when he will have his match, but he has already won a top prize. Just today, via his social media, MJF has announced his engagement to his girlfriend Naomi Rosenblum.

At the same time, he also wished his future wife a happy birthday, albeit in his unique way. He also took the time to give some rare words of encouragement to all the other women out there.

He claimed that women were flooding his timeline following the announcement but reassured them that they can still find love.

What is MJF up to Now?

Since his return at All Out, MJF has entered into a feud with former AEW Champion Jon Moxley. In preparation for their battles to come, MJF has established an all-new faction to serve him.

The new group is called The Firm and is managed by Stokely Hathaway, who secured MJF his title shot. The group consists of The Gunn Club, W. Morrisey, Ethan Page, and Lee Moriarty.

His group will likely clash with Moxley’s Blackpool Combat Club in the coming weeks leading up to Full Gear. Stokely has already made their intentions clear in competing for ROH gold held by the Combat Club.

How far the feud will go will be seen in the coming months leading up to the big pay-per-view. For now, though, we here at Wrestling Republic would like to congratulate MJF and Naomi Rosenblum on their engagement.

Fans will remember that former 2x NXT Champions Killer Kross was released from his contract last year. The firing was a surprise to many as he was a solid star, but his main roster presentation was lackluster.

Kross found himself watered down from his popular NXT persona by bad creative direction and poor fan reception. The negative reactions from live audiences ultimately contributed to the star’s release as part of a wave of “budget cuts.”

Many fans seem to think that released WWE superstars will sign with AEW, but not everyone does. Kross was recently in negotiations with Tony Khan to debut against Wardlow, but plans through for a number of reasons.

In the end, W. Morrissey took his spot and wrestled a good match against Wardlow, with the latter coming out victorious. Fans may think Kross may have missed his chance at signing with the company, but Tony Khan has good news.

While on In The Kliq podcast, Khan had nothing but praise for Kross and is still open to signing him.

“I had talked to Killer Kross before. He’s a great guy. I love his voice, he’s got a great voice. He’s a great wrestler, a big, powerful, and fearsome guy,” Khan said. “I am interested in him. He does great work and he’s a nice guy. I would be open to him coming in at some point.” (H/T Fightful.com)

Fightful Select reports that negotiations with Khan fell through for multiple reasons, some pertaining to his time in WWE. One reason was that Kross’s wife and regular valet, Scarlett Bordeaux, would not be involved as part of the segment.

Another was that it would have mirrored Kross’s Raw debut against Jeff Hardy, where he lost quickly to a roll-up. Kross was also negotiating to appear at ROH’s Supercard of Honor, but again, a deal couldn’t be reached in time.

It’s good to know that the door isn’t closed to Killer Kross as he’s a great talent and would benefit AEW. These talks fell through due to timing, but there’s still time to work things out and get Kross back on TV.

Also, Maxwell Jacob Friedman has called in a mystery opponent the face Wardlow next week, and the only thing we know for sure is that he is taller than Wardlow and “you can’t teach that.” The fans in the arena seemed to figure out who he was talking about because it sounded like he was talking about W. Morrisey, aka former WWE star Big Cass.

Lastly, IMPACT Wrestling’s Deonna Purrazzo will make her AEW debut against Mercedes Martinez in a match to declare the Undisputed Ring of Honor Women’s Champion. Purrazzo defeated Rok-C, currently Roxanne Perez in NXT, for the title on an IMPACT episode on AXS. AVERAGE We see Mickie James offering a title match to Chelsea Green if she is successful in her match tonight with Tasha Steelz.

AVERAGE Matt Cardona and Jordynne Grace: This was another solid match, but not anything special. Matt Cardona has been looking good as of late with his new attitude change. Jordynne looked dominate in this match, but the ending could have been better for both her and Matt instead of Jordynne low-blowing Matt for him to get the win. After the match Jordynne went to continue to attack Matt, but he leaves before she can do more damage.

RESULT: Matt Cardona defeats Jordynne Grace by DQ

Aaliyah Alexander WR Star Rating: -2.25 Stars.

RESULT: Mickie James defeat Tasha Steelz

Aaliyah Alexander WR Star Rating: -2.75 Stars.

AVERAGE Rich Swann informs the group that Eddie Edwards was not medically cleared to fight tonight, which leads to him bringing in Willie Mack into the group.

GOOD Moose and W. Morrissey: Moose was able to successfully defend his title in an entertaining match. Both Moose and Morrissey looked great in this match and either one of them could have won the title, but Moose was able to succeed.

RESULT: Moose defeats W. Morrissey via pinfall

Aaliyah Alexander WR Star Rating: -3.75 Stars.

GOOD Team Impact and Team Honor No More: After all the build up, we finally get to see Team Impact and Team Honor go head to head against each other. This was great match with another shocking ending as Eddie Edwards appears to be helping Team Impact only for him to turn on them and join Team Honor No More. The match ends with Eddie standing side by side with Team Honor No More after their successful victory.

RESULT: Team Honor No More defeats Team Impact via pinfall

Aaliyah Alexander WR Star Rating: -3.75 Stars.

Overall, this was an fantastic PPV from Impact Wrestling tonight. The matches were fun to watch, their was some good storytelling in some of the matches, and the crowd seemed to enjoy the PPV. Some positive things about tonight’s episode was the main event tonight. It was a shocking twist to see Eddie turn on Team Impact and no one suspected him to do it, making his turn really good. The next positive thing was the tag team match with the Good Brothers and G.O.D. Not only was the tag match good, but it also had a shocking twist with the Bulllet Club members, Chris Bey and Jay White turning on G.O.D. This will be exciting to see how this will play out on Thursday on Impact. Another positive thing was the opening fatal four way match. Everyone involved in that match did extremely well. The match had the crowd excited for what they were going to do next. Something negative about tonight’s episode would be the ending of the Jordynne Grace and Matt Cardona match. Matt is starting to get a push in Impact and Jordynne is already popular and over with the fans. The ending itself just didn’t do any favors for Matt or Jordynne. This could however been a way to keep their rivalry going, so we should see going forward. Again this was a great PPV and it’s definitely worth watching.

Aaliyah Alexander WR Star Rating: – 3.0 Stars.

Overall, this episode of Impact Wrestling was good to watch. Some positive things that happened during this show was the No DQ main event with Brian Myers and W. Morrissey. The match itself was pretty good and fun to watch between Brian and Morrissey. The ending of the match made sense since Morrissey was able to get the victory and gain some momentum. This was also a good build up for Morrissey title match with Moose at No Surrender. Another good thing that happened during the show was the non championship match between Chelsea Green and Mickie James. This was a good way to keep the Tasha and Mickie storyline progressing. Not only that, but this helps Chelsea and Mickie to continue their storyline and maybe a future rivialy later down the road. Lastly the build up between Team Honor No More and Team Impact has had a pretty solid build up and it has continued to progress ahead of their tag match at No Surrender. There weren’t really any negative things in this episode of Impact, because we got to see the continuation of several storylines, good matches, and much more!

This week’s show of Impact Wrestling appears to be a good one, with an intriguing title vs title main event match between Deonna Purazzo and Rok -C, as well as many other entertaining matches!

AVERAGE: W. Morrissey to the ring to discuss Hard To Kill and how he wants a rematch because he was never pinned in the match. Morrissey summons Moose and orders him to face him like a man. Moose appears on the screen to inform Morrissey that he would not be giving him another shot at the title, and that instead, someone who has never had a shot at the title will be given the chance.

AVERAGE: Matt Taven, Mike Bennett, Maria, PCO, and Vincent make their way to the commentary table, where Matt insists that D’Lo Brown and Tom Hannifan take off their equipment and give it to him. D’Lo stands up to them, and PCO beats him by putting him through a table.

RESULT: Speedball Mike Bailey def. Jake Something

AVERAGE: With Eric Young, Joe Doering, and Deaner, we now see Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows. Karl informs Eric that they only teamed up with them for the PPV to take out Heath’s team. As the officials call for assistance for Rhino and Heath, who have been attacked, Eric claims he is only thinking about the future.

Chelsea then challenges Tasha to a match the next week, which she declines after Chelsea pushes her and urges her to consider it.

The post “Decent Episode” Impact Review 01/13/2022 appeared first on Wrestling Republic.

This week on Impact was lined up to be a good one. Allies Eddie Edwards and Kojima square off, the X Division scene continues to heat up as Chris Bey takes on Petey Williams, and AEW/TNA/AAA Mega Champion Kenny Omega along side the good brothers are in action tonight. So enough talk, let’s get right into the show.

GOOD: To open up the show we went straight into Eddie Edwards vs Kojima, or so we thought. The New Japan legend made his way to the ring first and waited for Edwards, but Edwards never showed up. Instead W. Morrissey (AKA Big Cass for anyone who doesn’t know) appeared on the titantron and revealed that he had attacked Eddie Edwards in the parking lot. While Kojima stood in the ring confused, Brian Myers and his protege Sam Beale came out to confront Kojima. The heels attacked Kojima prompting Jake Something to come out and make the save. A referee came out and made this match official.

GOOD: So now it’s time for the true opening match, Kojima and Jake Something vs. Brian Myers and Sam Beale. Something started off the match really strong before being overpowered by the heels, who were keeping him away from Kojima and refusing to let Jake tag out. When he eventually did tag out, Kojima gave it all he had against both Myers and Beale to put them down for the 3 count.

Result: Kojima and Jake Something defeats Brian Myers and Sam Beale via pinfall

Tyler Miller WR Star Rating: 3

SATISFACTORY: Next up we got Rachael Ellering, who had Jazz in her corner, going against Tenille Dashwood, who has Kaleb with a K her corner. Overall the match was pretty good, nothing too memorable other than the fact that despite not being seen in a minute, Tenille looked great in the ring. Rachael won the match via roll up despite the facts that Tenille took control for the majority and Kaleb with a K attempted to distract Ellering.

Result: Rachael Ellering defeats Jordynne Grace via pinfall

Tyler Miller WR Star Rating: 2.

GOOD:After the match Dashwood began to attack Ellering as Kaleb encouraged her. Jazz and Rachael Ellering’s former tag team partner, Jordynne Grace made the save, seemingly reuniting with Ellering.

GOOD: Up next we had more tag team action as Fallah Bahh and TJP took on Rich Swann and Willy Mack. This was a fun match, though it was almost over as soon as it started. Not too long into the match, all four members of Violent by Design came and laid out all four men, possibly setting up a triple threat tag team match at Slammiversary in 17 days. (Josh Matthews won’t let you forget that.) Now I really liked what they had going on in the this match and I really wish it didn’t end the way it did, but I understand why and I’m fine with it.

Result: No Contest

Tyler Miller Star Rating: 3

GREAT: Then it was time for the best match of the night, as Chris Bey went up against Petey Williams. The story behind this match up is that Ultimate X is returning at Slammiversary and the heels and faces involved in the match have formed their own alliances with Bey being stuck in the middle. Bey took control early on, but Petey fought back, almost hitting a Canadian Destroyer that was reversed by Bey into some kind of TKO inverted neckbreaker. (I don’t know the proper name, but it looked cool) That wasn’t enough to put away the veteran as he went for another Canadian Destroyer. Bey, however, reversed it again, this time hitting Williams with The Art of Finesse to win the bout.

Result: Chris Bey defeats Petey Williams via pinfall

Tyler Miller WR Star Rating: 3.75

SATISFACTORY: In the semi-main event we got Steve Maclin vs Manny Smith. There isn’t much to say about this one as the former Forgotten Son was in control the entire time, before ultimately pinning Smith to win the match in lest than 5 minutes.

Result: Steve Maclin defeats Manny Smith via pinfall

Tyler Miller WR Star Rating: 2.75

GOOD: In the main event we had a 3-on-3 tag team match between Kenny Omega & The Good Brothers with Don Callis and Moose, Sami Callihan, & Chris Sabin with Tommy Dreamer. Kenny and The Good Brothers basically controlled this match. The heels isolated Sabin early on, only for him to tag in Callihan, who got low blowed and tagged Sabin back in and he started to get a little bit of offense in. During the the entire match, Moose was refusing to let Sabin tag him in. Moose injured Sabin’s partner, James Storm, so there was a lot of tension building up between Moose and Sabin during the whole match. It got so bad to the point where Moose speared Sabin and left Omega and the Good Brother to pick the bones of his partners as he walked out of the match. After Moose walked out, Kenny hit Sami with a V-Trigger and The Good Brothers hit Sabin with a Magic Killer to win the match and close out the show.

Result: Kenny Omega and The Good Brothers defeated Sami Callihan, Moose, and Chris Sabin

Tyler Miller WR Star Rating: 3.5

Impact was pretty good this week. Nothing too terrible, but nothing mind blowing. I’m a little upset we didn’t get Edwards vs Kojima, as I felt like that would’ve been an amazing match. Chris Bey and Petey Williams knocked it out of the park and that just makes me even more excited for the Ultimate X match at Slammiversary. The only thing I would change about this week is the lack of Knockouts. Yes we got Rachael vs Tenille, but what about Deonna Purrazzo? Anyways as I previously stated, this week was really good and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
