All Elite Wrestling has been on a roll ever since its inception, but the one consistent weak point has been the women’s division. Since their women’s division was significantly smaller in talent to their men’s division, they slipped down the card. Despite the new influx of talent, the division continues to hang around the middle of the pack. Following the disappointing feud between Dr. Britt Baker and Tay Conti at Full Gear, it is clear some changes need to be made. I have several ideas on how to improve the division in a simple, logical way.
My first change would be giving the women more time on TV and improving their spot on card. Dynamite is still stuck with only one women’s match on the card, often slotted right before the main event, in a so-called dead spot. A second women’s match on Wednesdays would give the division a massive boost and more talent the opportunity to get over. It also helps get the women out of that dreaded dead-time slot. Britt Baker has helped make progress, main eventing several Dynamites and Rampages, most notably the Grand Slam show. More women either main-eventing or opening the show helps elevate the entire division.
The next plan involves including more talent on TV more often. Including talent like Big Swole, Leyla Hirsch, Riho, and others allows the division to feel deeper and creates separation between the main event and mid card scene. The higher exposure allows them to build more stars by having them rack up wins on Dynamite, very similar to how they build male main eventers. AEW should look to increase the stock and invest in talents like Serena Deeb, Jade Cargill, and Thunder Rosa into true main event stars.
It is crucial that AEW treats the new TBS title as important as the TNT title. This gives the opportunity for more title defenses and short feuds surrounding. I believe that the perfect first champion is Jade Cargill. The best option is to give her a run similar to Miro, defeating her opponents in short matches that make her offense look lethal. AEW has spent over a year now building Cargill as a top star and now is the perfect time to pull the trigger on pushing her as a champion.
All in all the problem with AEW’s Women’s division is they simply aren’t given enough time or creativity to highlight the strengths of their talented roster. If All Elite Wrestling can start giving their women more time and more creative feuds, they will soon have the most complete roster in the world.
