MJF could reportedly be on his way back to AEW soon as AEW look for a boost in their TV ratings
MJF has always been a must watch figure to many fans throughout AEW’s history, especially in recent times with his intense rivalries against the likes of CM Punk and Wardlow and also his controversial promo against Tony Khan that lead to MJF not being shown or mentioned on AEW TV since. All of this in turn reportedly means that AEW are keen to get him back on TV in the near future.
Is MJF Near To Returning?
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that whilst there is no official timetable for MJF to make his return, he is currently scheduled to return in the near future. This is due to AEW wanting to make a big boost in the TV ratings as AEW are set to negotiate a new TV deal in the coming months. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter writes…
“MJF is currently scheduled to be returning somewhat soon. We don’t know the exact time but the negotiations for a new TV deal will likely be taking place starting in just a few months and into the spring, so the TV ratings numbers probably September to whenever the deal is closed are the most important to date so this recent drop is the worst time to have a drop.” (H/T ringsidenews.com)
MJF has not been on any AEW television since June 1st after he cut a controversial promo where he called Tony Khan a “f*cking mark” and demanded his release from the company before his microphone was cut off. This incident brewed from reported strained relations between MJF and Tony Khan due to MJF’s contract situation.
Many fans have speculated whether MJF would come back and interfere in next weeks AEW World championship unification match between Jon Moxley and CM Punk, where he would reignite unfinished business with the cult of personality.
