CM Punk calling out ‘Hangman’ Adam Page during last night’s promo was not supposed to happen, according to a report from Dave Meltzer.
CM Punk made his long-awaited return to AEW on last night’s episode of Dynamite, after suffering an injury that kept him sidelined for a few months.
The AEW World Champion opened last night’s show by making an interesting promo to start building up his feud with Interim Champion Jon Moxley ahead of the upcoming All Out pay-per-view.
Punk started the promo by calling out former champion ‘Hangman’ Adam Page to the ring, apparently offering him a rematch for the title. This led to a situation where Page decided not showing up to answer Punk’s challenge, with ‘The Best In The World’ proceeding to call it “Coward S**t” and dropping major bombs on Jon Moxley.
However, according to a recent report from Dave Meltzer at the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Radio, AEW did not have any plans on this situation to happen.
Even though Hangman was not featured on Dynamite this week, it was noted that he was backstage at last night’s event. This was seen when John Silver tweeted a photo of Page eating catering at backstage, accompanied by the message “Hangman is a little busy right now”.
It is also important to mention that some people says that there were some real-life heat on the previous rivalry between both men. So, it remains to be seen if this situation will affect AEW in the near future.

Where Does The Heat Between CM Punk And Hangman Page Come From?
Many people think that some of the stuff said on the promos were right, with Hangman’s comments about him protecting AEW from Punk being truth.
It is also said that what Hangman told Punk about not liking him and that he arrived to AEW just because of the money were his real thoughts too.
So, it is undeniable that this confrontation comes from a long time now. Perhaps, even before they started feuding for the AEW World Title back in May.
