WWE Smackdown Jan 9 2026 Highs:
Drew McIntyre wins the WWE Championship has the be the first high of this episode. In a result that was definitely shocking. The return of Jacob Fatu with him attacking Drew first and then Cody once Cody put his hands on the Samoan Werewolf. Drew McIntyre escaped the not so old school steel cage to win the title. Drew McIntyre finally gets a moment that doesn’t get ruined in front of a crowd. Cody Rhodes attacks Jacob once more in the cage and gives us a reason to be excited for more than just Drew getting this title.
Giulia getting a title defense, and Jade Cargill seemingly getting a challenger. The women’s division has had a little refresh as Giulia got TV time and a win over Alexa Bliss. Jordynne Grace looked dominant against Alba and is clearly now in a program with the champion. It will be interesting to see what happens with them.
The US Open Challenge continues to be really fun. Carmelo Vs Shinsuke was really well done. Glad we can just vibe and enjoy Shinsuke Nakamura on our screens again. Fun to see Fraxiom and Gargano still appearing to be in that division.
The new champion is gonna have a new title picture, with different people trying to fight him at the Rumble. Sami Vs Dragunov 3, Trick Vs Cardona, Solo Vs Priest and Randy Vs Miz all announced for next week.
WWE Smackdown Jan 9 2026 Lows:
The MFT and The Wyatt Sicks wont be done. With Solo Sikoa stealing the Bray Wyatt lantern, this feud that isn’t that entertaining is gonna continue. The match was fine, Erick Rowan did well with the hot tag and the crowd did add to the match. I just don’t know what the end goal of this feud is now.
