The report by The New York Post revealed that he was in talks to join Amazon Prime as part of their broadcast team for Thursday Night Football ahead of the return of the NFL season, as well as making Amazon the home of the Pat McAfee Show.

On today’s edition of the Pat McAfee Show, McAfee commented on the rumors without specifically mentioning Amazon.

“I’m trying to figure out what the best way to handle it, just the most entertaining way to go about this whole thing,” McAfee admitted. “Because everybody is being forced to follow along with this. I don’t want people to be forced to follow along with this unless they’re following along with this as a fan of ours. Now we’re getting forced into everyone else’s world as well, which I’ve never enjoyed.

Anytime I get forced into a new audience or we get forced into a new audience, it always brings a new batch of people just f*cking burying me in my Twitter timeline. It’s like ‘alright, can we get past this entire thing?’ But I guess this is the world now. We’ve just got to get used to it.

But I’m excited for everybody that’s wondering, because it feels like there’s actual interest, and there’s been a lot of very positive things texted to me from a lot people that I’ve worked with in the past, from reading all this stuff on the internet. And, who knows what’s going to happen? Who knows what’s going to happen?

There’s been a couple of ‘up to something seasons’ where we’ve been up to something, and then something pops up in the middle of ‘up to something season’ and it’s like ‘whoa whoa. Well now which news we have to break? Hey sorry, we’re going to have to delay this conversation.’

It’s a wild thing. It’s a lot of fun and we’re very lucky, and very, very thankful for everybody. And with that being said, we are up to something. Or somethings.” (Via The Pat McAfee Show H/T WrestlingInc for the transcription)

Pat McAfee recently competed at WrestleMania 38 where he defeated Austin Theory before losing to the Chairman & CEO of WWE, Vince McMahon.

As of this time there is no update about whether or not the Amazon Prime deal could impact Pat McAfee‘s WWE future.

As reported earlier today by Sean Ross Sapp with Fightful Select, their sources close with Corey Graves say he was medically cleared by WWE doctors some time in the last year.

After seven years, it is possible that we could see Graces in the ring very soon. Just last week he tweeted a hand raising emoji in response to WWE asking fans who should declare for the Rumble match to wrestle Johnny Knoxville. In July of 2021, added fuel to the fire when he tweeted, “I was put on this earth to do something. What I’m doing is not it.” Not too long after he simply tweeted, “I kinda want to wrestle again.”

Of course, it could just be that Graves likes commentary more than the prospect of returning to the ring and is just trolling with the fans. Rumors that Corey will return to the ring makes the rounds multiple times a year, every year since his injury. He clearly loves to fuel the speculation as well.

In April of 2020, Graves talked about being inspired by Edge’s return and wanting to come out of retirement. Then in May of 2020, it was revealed he was training with his brother, Sam Adonis.

In November 2021, it was revealed that he was no longer on WWE’s “no contact” list when he won the 24/7 title. Sources with Fightful and close the WWE creative have said that there have been internal pitches for Graves, but nothing has stuck. It is unclear if those pitches were made by Graves or WWE creative. One source close to creative said they were not aware that Graved was cleared.

If he does return anytime soon, it would be after 7 years of in-ring retirement. In late 2014, Graves announced his retirement after suffering two consecutive concussions earlier in the year. SInce, he has been a staple of WWE’s commentary tables.

No one is sure whether or not WWE will actually let Corey Graves return to the ring. However his addition to the men’s roster would be exciting. (Given that creative have ideas lined up for his return. Unfortunately no one can ever be sure how likely that is)

Paquette wrote on her official Twitter account, “Huge news!! @TomHannifan joins @IMPACTWRESTLING as their newest play-by-play announcer at Hard To Kill! What a pick-up for them! I have Tom’s first interview as this coming Tuesday on The Sessions!! @TheVolumeSports.”

Hannifan was also spotted in Dallas, Texas, on the morning of the eighth, which led to fan speculation prior to the official announcement of his signing. According to PWInsider, Hannifan will be replacing longtime Impact announcer Matt Striker who revealed earlier in the week that he was finished with Impact Wrestling and departed from the promotion.

On his departure, Striker said on his Twitter account, “I am disappointed that my time with #ImpactonAXSTV is done. I really enjoyed that locker room. Thanks for allowing me to tell your story. Thanks, everyone. Stay safe.”

WWE legend D’Lo Brown will retain his spot on the announce desk for Impact and will be joined by Hannifan to call the play-by-play action for the Hard To Kill event. As of this Thursday’s episode, the pair will be Impact’s new commentary duo moving forward on Impact on AXS TV.

Hannifan, age 32, was a part of WWE’s staff from 2012 to May of last year in a featured commentary role for company programming. WWE released him as part of the over 80 cuts that have occurred in the past two years and which continue currently. The most recent cuts on January 6 included William Regal, Timothy Thatcher, and Danny Burch. Hannifan’s roles within WWE included producing and managing announcers as Senior manager of On-Air talent under Michael Cole.

Prior to signing with Impact Wrestling, Hannifan had transitioned to hosting Paydirt: Penn State Football Podcast, which covered college football matches and topics.
