Pro Wrestling EVE’s She-1 2026 sees 8 competitors vow for the title of the Ace of Eve and a spot in the Main Event of Wrestle Queendom in March! Will Skye Smitson avenge last year? Will Abbie Cartwright shock the world? Only one way to find out!

Pro Wrestling EVE- SHE-1 2026 Highs

This year’s SHE-1 Climax was a lot more focused on the show-long story being told than the quality of the in-ring wrestling, and it resulted in a great underdog story being told in Session Moth Martina’s unlikely run to win the entire tournament. Beating Alexxis Falcon and Molly Spartan with roll-ups only to finally score a decisive victory over the cocky Vaughan was a superbly satisfying narrative and Martina is a superb underdog.

The best of the ring-action came for me in Emi Sakura and Skye Smitson’s novel first time ever contest in the quarter final. Their styles meshed very entertainingly and the snug action complemented both performers. Smitson always has amazing presentation and confidence and can match it with excellent ring-work.

It was exciting to see Debbie Keitel make her return from an excursion to DIANA in Japan, and I hope she can make a good impact on her return to EVE. Her match with Anita Vaughan was a solid showcase for both women, and hopefully it can be built upon in 2026.

The promo segments on the show also advanced the stories well, with Rhio and Nightshade furthering their story to set up a future match and Anita Vaughan perfectly placing herself as the arrogant foil to Martina. While short, these kept the plates spinning and left fans wanting more.

Pro Wrestling EVE- SHE-1 2026 Lows

The biggest down to this show was the unfortunate injury to Safire Reed. Happening just seconds into her quarter final match with Molly Spartan. Not only is it a horribly sad for Reed, but it ground the show to a sad halt for quite some time. If, as it appears this is indeed not a work, best wishes to Safire for a speedy recovery.

Though there were almost no outright bad matches on the card, a lack of time led to some matches suffering. Whilst the final’s short length was entirely justified given the story being told, other matches felt extremely underbaked. The clearest example of this was the semi final match between Vaughan and Smitson, which had a clearly vicious feud, a 20 minute time limit and some great chemistry. While it started well, it finished almost as quickly as it began with Vaughan knocking out Smitson on the turnbuckle and getting the win. This felt anticlimactic and not in keeping with expectation.

The production of the show recording, despite a good set, also struggled a little with commentary inaudible for the opening minutes and graphics not being consistent and coming in and out. While EVE is a lower budget production, for it to excel to the next level it needs to get a full grip on its recording to make it more easily watchable for viewers.

Summary-

Though this year’s SHE-1 struggled a little with short matches, some production botches and an unfortunate injury to Safire Reed, the sheer babyface charisma of Session Moth Martina is enough to push a good narrative throughout EVE’s first event of the year. Much like WWE’s 1998’s Deadly Games tournament, the story itself is greater than the sum of it’s individual match quality, though with only one clear tournament story it doesn’t match the sheer novelty of WWE’s effort. A show that probably needed one really excellent match, there are nonetheless fun highlights and it is a solid night of pro-wrestling, even if perhaps more was expected.

This week, the inaugural batch of WWE ID prospects have begun to be announced. One of the best, yet most underrated names on the current list is none other than the ‘Petite Powerhouse’ herself, Zara Zakher. Hailing from San Jose, California and at just 22 years of age, Zakher is wise beyond her years, a thrilling mix of ferocious intensity and a superstar aura that makes her a complete joy to watch.

I am such a fan of Zakher’s that (and I promise this is true) I had already written a draft of this article before she was signed to this deal, and have subsequently had to amend it as a result. I want to use this article to highlight to a mainstream audience just what a gem WWE may have on their hands, someone who I genuinely believe to be one of wrestling’s biggest young prospects.

Zara Zakher’s Run In TJPW Tokyo Princess Cup

I first encountered Zara Zakher in this year’s TJPW Tokyo Princess Cup and was immediately blown away. Despite it not being her first time in TJPW, having wrestled company stalwart Mizuki back in February as well as several undercard tags, her participation in the prestigious tournament was undoubtedly her biggest exposure to the worldwide stage. Swaggering into the Shinjuku FACE Arena and up against the promotions world champion Miu Watanabe she looked entirely at home, stunning the champion in a shock upset and shattering Watanabe’s year long undefeated run.

It was an excellent match, possibly the best of the second round, and Zakhers combination of power, agility and charisma shocked me and put her immediately on my radar in a big way. She continued her strong momentum in the quarter final, a rematch with previous opponent Mizuki. Despite Mizuki being one of the best in the company, as well as the tag champion at the time, Zakher again put her away in another great showing, avenging her loss to Mizuki back in February.

Her run in the tournament came to an end at the Semi-Final stage, losing to eventual runner up Yuki Aino. It was a slight shame, given a final showdown with the transcendently charismatic Ryo Mizunami would’ve been a blowaway hit for Zakher, but she had nevertheless proved herself as a huge breakout star. The strength of her booking through the tournament, as well as the willingness of top stars to make her look strong and Zakher’s undeniable promise, firmly cemented her as one to watch in my eyes.

Translating To A Larger Audience

The driving force behind this article however was seeing her success in Japan begin to translate to a wider US fanbase. Appearing at GCW’s Monster Bash Event on Halloween night, Zara Zakher proved her acumen in a show-stealing match with current TNA Knockouts Champion Masha Slamovich. The match, a ferocious piece of strong style wrestling from two exquisite power athletes, saw some impressive development from Zakher, adding some hints of acrobatic flair as well as some strong bumping and selling as she fell at the sword of the champion. Slamovich is of course one of the very best in the world, but Zakher matched her brilliantly and her physical charisma has me already fantasy booking her against other top stars across the wrestling world.

Zaria, Athena, Jordynne Grace, Bianca Belair and Bozilla are all names I would love to see wrestle Zakher, a testament to her immediately impressive performances. I only hope that, under the ID program, Zakher is still provided the opportunity to wrestle a diverse list of opponents, as the exposure and experience she will get in continuing to diversify her portfolio is invaluable.

The Future Is Bright For Zara Zahker

Whether or not the WWE ID pathway works out for Zara in the long term, her talent is so undeniable that she will be a credit to any major wrestling organisation that acquires her services. Her combination of agility, pace and power is frightening, and her radiant charisma shines through the second she walks through the curtain. She has proven her skill against a diverse range of opponents, so I doubt she would have difficulty fitting into any company, country or style in the world. With this level of promise after less than 2 years experience on the independent wrestling scene, I truly believe that in the coming years, if her career trajectory continues to soar as I feel it can, we could be looking at a future megastar!

Lucha Libre. A wrestling style originating in Mexico that has been used by some of the best workers the business has ever seen. Names such as Blue Demon, El Santo, Psychosis, and Rey Mysterio have enriched Lucha Libre with great history, but with Mysterio’s career in it’s final stages, it’s time to look towards the future. I mention Rey Mysterio specifically, as he has been a main representative for Lucha Libre for the past twenty-or-so years. So it begs the question: Who are the five men that I think will steer the ship for Lucha Libre in the future? That’s what I have aimed to find out in this article. I have picked five young, insanely talented luchadores who I believe will be the future of Lucha Libre in the wrestling industry. Without further ado, on with the list.

5. Bandido

Notable Accomplishments: ROH World Champion, PWG World Champion, PROGRESS Tag Team Champion

Current Age: 28

For someone who is just 28 years of age, the man already has some solid accomplishments. Although he’s currently out injured, we shouldn’t forget how great this man is in the ring. Unlike most of the other luchadores on this list, Bandido possesses a great library of power moves that mesh greatly with the rest of his move set. I’m hoping that Tony Khan sees the talent that there is in him and gives him some well-deserved spotlight upon his return.

4. Titan

Notable Accomplishments: CMLL World Welterweight Champion (Current), BOSJ 30 finalist, CMLL World Tag Team Champion, Mexican National Welterweight Champion (2x), Mexican National Trios Champion

Current Age: 33

While he already has a great list of accomplishments, being in the BOSJ final is the most important to me. This is because his match against Master Wato in the final was genuinely generational. It was like a fight scene from a film translated into wrestling. Watching Titan in that match was mesmerising and had me really wanting to see more of him. The talent that this man possesses is unreal, and I hope more people realise that in the future. While he may be the oldest on this list, that shouldn’t stop you from keeping an eye out for him.

January 2024 was an insane month in the world of professional wrestling, both in front of and behind the camera. But behind the spectacles, controversies and surprises, one thing that has remained consistent is an excellent in ring product. In this article I’ll discuss and break down 10 must watch wrestling matches that you may have missed in January.

The standard of wrestling across the world right now is possibly the highest it’s ever been, and while WWE, AEW, TNA and others often take up the headlines, I wanted to showcase some noteworthy matches from elsewhere in the wrestling landscape that may have slipped your radar. I aim for this to become a monthly series where I highlight 10 matches you should see from around the world of wrestling.

No WWE or AEW matches will feature in these lists as they are more than covered enough, and TNA, Ring Of Honor or New Japan Pro Wrestling matches will only be covered if I feel they have flown under the radar of the mainstream. Each list will be chronological, and contain matches for either their significance, brilliance between the ropes, or in many cases both. Finally, I will only include one match per promotion in order to ensure maximum diversity. Let’s get into it

All Japan Pro Wrestling- Katsuhiko Nakajima vs Charlie Dempsey- January 3rd

Photo Credit: All Japan Pro Wrestling

Examples of WWE stars wrestling in other promotions is extremely rare in the 21st century, but appears to be something that WWE’s new regime is willing to experiment with. Last year Shinsuke Nakamura faced The Great Muta as part of Muta’s retirement tour for Pro Wrestling NOAH, allowing a nice piece of dream match nostalgia for fans. This year, AJPW acquired NXT star Charlie Dempsey for a two night run of New Year Giant shows, climaxing with this title match for the AJPW Triple Crown Championship against the incredible Katsuhiko Nakajima. It is an excellent showing for the youngster, giving Dempsey a chance to demonstrate his technical prowess against one of Japan’s best talents. Even as a fan of Dempsey’s in NXT I was surprised to see just how adept he was in a big match environment, which of course credit to both him and Nakajima, who works wonders to make his opponent look as credible as possible. A really fun demonstration of the ability of WWE’s homegrown stars to be challenged in new environments, a test that Dempsey passes with flying colours.

Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling- Masha Slamovich vs Miu Yamashita- January 4th

Photo Credit: Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling

TJPW, though not as recognisable in name value as their biggest competition in the Joshi scene, Stardom, has quietly put out some of the most consistently excellent wrestling in Japan this month. Much of the latter half of January has been taken up by the very good Princess Max Heart tournament, with the final between Daisy Monkey and Hachikuru set for February 10th. Yet despite the tournament’s merits, nothing can come close to the level of excellence I witnessed between Masha Slamovich and Miu Yamashita on January 4th, the latest in a line of great matches from the two around Japan and the USA. These two women wrestled an incredibly brutal strong style wrestling match, with the strikes laid in with such ferocity it gives the match tremendous energy. There are also great moments of storytelling laced throughout, particularly around Yamashita’s backfist finisher. A phenomenal encounter, and one which I would recommend you seek out more than perhaps any other match on this list. A wonderful spectacle of violence.

Despite the promotion flying under the radar since the days of British Strong Style, Walter and Ilja Dragunov, Progress Wrestling is once again proving itself as the most underrated promotion in the professional wrestling industry.

Why do we love professional wrestling? I think it’s a question that not only non wrestling fans ask us, but also at times we ask ourselves. What is it about this form of entertainment that draws us in so much? What gives us that ‘feeling’? The ‘feeling’ you simply can’t describe. It’s something that I often wonder, and the answer I usually come to is two things. The first being the stories. The stories are what draw us in and suspend our disbelief. They make us forget about any problems we may have in our own lives, and distract us for just a little bit. The second thing being, fan engagement. Fan engagement has more involvement in professional wrestling than it does in nearly anything else. The fans can dictate plans, they can change stories, they can even change someone’s character. When you really think about it, it’s fascinating.

Over the past year I have been lucky enough to attend WrestleMania, ROH Supercard Of Honor, Money In The Bank, and AEW All In. However despite attending these blockbuster events, there is one event which gave me that ‘feeling’ that you just can’t describe more than anything else, and that was Progress Chapter 160 Vendetta.

What Made Progress Chapter 160 So Special?

As soon as I entered the queue for the event, I noticed something unusual, and that was that a lot of people in the queue knew each other. There was easily a few hundred people attending, yet it was almost like a lot of them were some extended family. Most were even wearing Progress merchandise, and I don’t mean wearing the merchandise from a wrestler in Progress wrestling, but simply merchandise with the Progress Wrestling logo on it. If you go to a WWE or AEW show, you don’t see most of the crowd wearing merchandise with the companies logo on it.

As soon as we entered the building to go to our seats, the owner of the Progress Wrestling Lee McAteer was at the door welcoming everyone. Of course for a bigger promotion such as WWE or AEW this would be impossible to do, but even at other Independent wrestling events I have attended in the past, I had never seen an owner of a promotion interacting with the fans like that.

Once the show got underway the atmosphere was outstanding. The crowd were invested into each and every match, and not just because the action was good, but also because throughout most matches there was a story that was being told. You all know me, I believe that story is king in Professional Wrestling. I’m a firm believer that good action is not good enough without a story. A story is what pulls us in, it’s what suspends our disbelief.

The Connection Between The Wrestlers & Fans

Once the action began, I quickly noticed was that nearly every wrestler on this card was very good at interacting with the crowd. Dare I say better than some talent within the major leagues. Part of this was likely because of the family-like Progress crowd who were mostly familiar with the wrestlers and storylines perhaps more than a casual crowd on a major WWE or AEW show would be, but still, the wrestlers engagement with the crowd was beyond impressive.

I actually attended the event with a friend of mine who is truthfully just not really a wrestling fan. Throughout the years I’ve tried to get him invested into wrestling, but outside of the video games, all my attempts failed. However while he might not be a wrestling fan, on November 26 he certainly became a Progress fan. The experience of being so close up to the action, and almost feeling like part of it at times due to there being no barricade, was what drew him in and he loved it so much he said he’d be up for going again.

Thank You Warren Banks

Ricky Knight Jr and Luke Jacobs was an absolute slug fest of hard hitting strikes, the Women’s Championship match between Rio vs Kanjo and Lizzy Evo was one of the best triple threat matches I’ve seen in the past few months, and of course the reunion of Sanity were all great moments. but the moment on the show which will stay with me for a long time was the retirement of Warren Banks.

If you haven’t heard of Warren Banks, you missed out. The dude has been one of the most underrated wrestlers on the U.K scene over the past few years, however unfortunately for whatever reason, he decided now was the time to leave the wrestling industry. In his retirement match at progress Chapter 160, he faced his trainer Gene Munny in a match which told a heartbreaking story. Munny didn’t want him to retire, he said it wasn’t right and the world was missing out on seeing Warren Banks and WWE didn’t know what they were missing him when they rejected him at a tryout. Banks wanted Munny to fight him but he kept refusing…but eventually he complied and defeated Banks. Banks leaving his boots in the ring just 10 feet away from me is something I will truly, never forget.

The Main Event Of Progress Chapter 160

This brings us to the main event. Spike Trivet vs Kid Lykos. For those of you who aren’t aware about British Wrestling, Spike Trivet is possibly the most hated man in the scene right now. He’s had a lengthy reign as Progress champion, but a reign which Kid Lykos wanted to end. Lykos has had a crazy career. Stop, start, stop again, career threatening injuries, but through it all, he prevaled. This all led him to this match against Spike Trivet. The Progress World Championship on the line. No disqualifications, anything goes. But there was a twist, if Kid Lykos lost, he’d have to unmask himself, and not just for the time being, but for the rest of his career.

Usually in wrestling when we hear we are getting a no disqualification match, we presume we will get a few chair shots and perhaps a table spot to pop the crowd if they are lucky, but this match, well it really lived up to the No Disqualification stipulation. It was brutal. The ring looked like it was bleeding by the end of it. Glass everywhere, tears in the eyes of fans. Absolute madness. As I previously said, to me story is everything in wrestling, and the story in this match was just phenomenal. I was hooked from the moment the bell rang, until the match ended. Kid Lykos got close, but not close enough, Spike Trivet retained the belt in a storytelling masterclass of a fight.

At this point you’d presume the crowd would be going home sad, but somehow, we didn’t. The show ended with Spike Trivet showing a glimpse of respect towards Kid Lykos after he unmasked him. Lykos then cut a promo which got every single person in the crowd fired up, some even in tears, where he stated that just because he no longer will wrestle under a mask, doesn’t mean he will no longer wrestle. The masked chapter ended for Lykos, but now it’s time to see the man behind it.

Should Progress Wrestling Expand?

Since the pandemic, not many people have been talking about Progress Wrestling, but from the family like environment of being at the shows, to the top quality wrestling and stories told, I truly believe Progress Wrestling is the most underrated and overlooked promotion in the world right now…but honestly, it somewhat needs to stay that way.

If Progress Wrestling got a TV deal, they wouldn’t be able to do half the things that make them Progress. If they ran larger arenas, they likely would have to follow tighter regulations and put a barrier between fans and the action, which again, wouldn’t be Progress. The beauty of Progress is that it’s a hidden gem, and selfishly, I kind of hope it stays that way.

Will Ospreay & Paul Robinson will be returning to PROGRESS & TNT Extreme Wrestling following an investigation into the allegations against them.

In a statement released by PROGRESS Wrestling, it was announced that Will Ospreay and Paul Robinson, who are collectively known as the Swords of Essex, will be making a return to both PROGRESS Wrestling and TNT Extreme Wrestling.

This decision follows a comprehensive investigation into allegations that were previously levied against Robinson during the #SpeakingOut movement. Both talents fully complied with all requests and internal feedback was taken into consideration.

In his reaction to the news, Ospreay expressed his happiness and gratitude towards the staff and roster at both promotions for their support in bringing him and Robinson back. He took to Twitter to share his excitement, stating that he cannot wait to return to both PROGRESS and TNT. Ospreay and Robinson’s return comes after a period of absence from both promotions.

After all the years we’ve been away, I’m so happy I can put aside any of the issues with PROGRESS & thanks to Lee, Martyn, Jay & all the Roster & Staff for their support in bringing us back.

I cannot wait for myself & Paul Robinson to return to TNT & PROGRESS
Thank you so much https://t.co/RUrCQaN0XU pic.twitter.com/ZT5Jw6Xqlh
— ᵂⁱˡˡ ᴼˢᵖʳᵉᵃʸ • ウィル・オスプレイ (@WillOspreay) May 7, 2023

This news comes amidst past allegations involving Ospreay, who was previously accused of playing a role in blacklisting British wrestler, Pollyanna, who retired from the wrestling business in December 2016. Ospreay had denied these accusations and issued an apology to Pollyanna, stating that he had not played a role in any type of blacklisting.

It was also alleged that Ospreay’s former girlfriend, AEW wrestler Bea Priestley, would say awful things about Pollyanna in the locker room. Pollyanna had responded to Ospreay’s apology, stating that he had indeed blacklisted her and that she had sources confirming that Priestley would say awful things about her in the locker room.

In February 2021, Paul Robinson left PROGRESS Wrestling amid allegations against him during the Speaking Out movement. The accusations against Robinson were related to his involvement with a 16-year-old wrestler in 2014 while both were in Germany for a wrestling event. The individual accused Robinson of taking advantage of their relationship and stated that they were uncomfortable with the situation.

The decision to welcome back Ospreay and Robinson to both promotions has garnered mixed reactions from wrestling fans, with some raising questions about the investigation and others expressing support for the talent. It remains to be seen how this decision will impact the wrestling community and whether Ospreay will be able to fully move on from past controversies.

Kimber Lee, the former WWE and Impact wrestler, has announced her retirement from wrestling, in a statement released on social media.

Lee shared that she will no longer be taking active bookings, citing her evolving circumstances and goals. She added that she had been working on herself this past year, coming to terms with some harsh realities and learning a lot about herself in the process.

Lee, who had not performed for Impact Wrestling since late 2021, had been with the promotion since 2020. She has wrestled occasionally over the last year, performing for promotions such as SHINE and FEST. Before signing with WWE in 2016, Kimber Lee had a successful run in Chikara, where she won the promotion’s top title, the Chikara Grand Championship, in 2015. Kimber is also a former Shimmer Champion and twice held the SHINE tag titles.

Lee performed as Abbey Laith in NXT until her release in 2018. In 2020, she married Zachary Wentz (Nash Carter in NXT), but the couple divorced in 2022 after Lee alleged physical abuse. Wentz was subsequently released from WWE shortly after the allegations surfaced. Lee revealed she is currently enrolled in Reiki and Meditation teacher training, indicating her future focus on healing.

In her statement, Lee expressed her gratitude for her experiences in wrestling but shared that her heart was no longer in it. She added that she was excited to step into her true self and become something amazing. Lee’s retirement marks the end of a 15-year wrestling career that took her to places and allowed her to see things that she never would have dreamed of in her lifetime.

Kimber Lee’s Statement:

The goodbye that I thought would never come. The mistress that has overtaken my life for the past 15 years. At times, wrestling was the greatest thing that ever happened to me. I have been to places and I have gotten to see things that I never would have dreamed of in my lifetime. But at the some time, there comes a point in everyone’s life where things just cannot continue in the same fashion that they have, because circumstances and goals evolve and change.

I originally thought that this was just going to be a break from wrestling. That after some time I would be ready to put my heart into this again and come back better than I have ever been before. But the thing is, the more I think about it, the more I come to realize that my heart is not in this anymore. Kimber Lee brings me instant heartache and anxiety, not the butterflies and joy that once was. There are too many painful wounds that come with going back into this world, and I am not willing to give those wounds my power or dominion over my life anymore.

With that being said, I will no longer be taking active bookings for the foreseeable future. Kimber is going to step away from the squared circle, and Kimberly Frankele is going out into the world, ready to become something amazing. I know I am being called into my healing abilities, and will be continuing to step forward in that space and I would love to have as many of you as I can along for that journey. When you close one door, you give yourself the opportunity to open up any new door you choose. I have lives to change and heal, and this is my first official step into my true self. As the real me.

I love you all so much, and with this, the Princess takes her final bow. Let the curtain fall….

Fans of Lee have been quick to express their sadness at her retirement, with many praising her for her contributions to the sport. Others have applauded her for her bravery in sharing her personal struggles with abuse and for her dedication to healing and helping others through her Reiki and Meditation training. Wrestling Republic wishes Kimber Lee all the best in her future outside of professional wrestling.

Power is the best word to describe Gabby Forza. A Beth Phoenix in her own right, she has already showcased her muscle and grit in her very first match. She is currently a student at Create-A-Pro Wrestling Academy and is performing like a veteran.
