MUST WATCH Naomi Vs Iyo Sky Vs Rhea Ripley – Women’s World Championship: WWE Summerslam 2025 Sunday Opening Match
Fundamentals: 1
Atmosphere: 1
Storytelling: 1
Psychology: 1
Innovation: 0.75
This match kicked the show off in the right way. With a banger, while it had a tough bar to jump over compared to other triple threat openers this year at Mania and Evolution. This was very well done. All Women got their support and built a well done match. Structuring around the dynamic that Rhea and Iyo have bad blood with Naomi for ruining their main event match. So it was being built up to the eventual moment that they could go head to head. Iyo and Rhea doing the pointing taunt is just a fun moment. Elevating what they have done in the past to make it fresher when Iyo got the diving sunset bomb and powerbombed Rhea onto Naomi.
Just when Rhea gets the avalanche riptide from the top, she might finally get the chance to beat Iyo, Naomi steals the win by rolling Rhea up. A broken, distraught Rhea as Naomi retains.
Results: Naomi by Pinfall via School Boy Roll Up On Rhea

PERFECT Wyatt Sick6 Vs Street Profits Vs MCMG Vs DIY Vs Fraxiom Vs Rey Fenix and Andrade – Tag Team Championship TLC Match:
The potential uncontrollable chaos existed for how this match could play out. This was off the charts electric with unique table spots and sequences. One of the gnarlist bumps from Candice LeRae after being pushed off the ladder accidentally by DIY. The numbers game remains the game that the Wyatt Sick6 will prevail with. After interferences by Nikki Cross, Erick Rowan and eventually Uncle Howdy. Gacy and Lumis are able to retain the championships. The bar was set so high from the post mania ladder match earlier this year but this failed to underdeliver. This was very fun from bell to bell and continued the momentum from the first match.
Results: Joe Gacy by Object Retrieval

AMAZING Becky Lynch Vs Lyra Valkyria – WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship, No DQ, No Count Outs:

To follow a chaotic and chaos filled ladder match with the longest women’s match of the weekend, is a strong and tough choice. This match is 25 minutes long and it went too long. The crowd was not good for it. With the crowd just not being top notch, the length of this match is felt. Spending a lot of time with Lyra with her wrists ziptied, even getting caught putting her wrists back in the ziptie. It just takes a long time to build this match. They do well psychologically with how Lyra and Becky sell, and how they provide important to the big moments with the chair and how the crow bar was viewed as something that dangerous.
When Becky got the Crowbar out, Bayley ended up stopping her. After a brawl with Bayley and Becky we saw a running leg drop through a table from Valkyria to Lynch. Bayley would strike Lyra by accident giving Becky the chance to win with the man handle slam. Rating wise this is the weakest of the trilogy but with a stipulation being both somewhat of a benefit but also a bit of a downfall.
Results: Becky Lynch by Pinfall via ManHandle Slam

GOOD Solo Sikoa Vs Jacob Fatu – WWE United States Championship Steel Cage Match:
Fundamentals: 0.75
Atmosphere: 1
Storytelling: 0.50
Psychology: 0.50

This is a tough match, because what we are all going to remember happened right after the match. Jacob Fatu moonsaulting off the top of the ladder. In comparison to the previous match the crowd was active here. They chanted against Solo Sikoa and were very much supportive of Jacob Fatu. The wrestling was fine but it felt like this match really didn’t get the chance to develop anything. We get moments of JC Mateo, Tonga Loa and Talla Tonga being ringside and Jey Uso being the guy to help on the outside. Talla Tonga climbed the cage and handcuffed Jacob to the top but Jacob broke out of the cuffs. Solo kicking out of several springboard moonsaults is an odd choice for one of Jacob’s big spots. Talla Tonga kicks the cage door to hit Jacob and help Solo out of the cage. This was not that good.
Results: Solo Sikoa by Escaping The Cage via Talla Tonga aiding him through the Door.

GREAT Dominik Mysterio Vs AJ Styles – WWE Intercontinental Championship:

20 years later we have Dominik Mysterio in a summerslam ring defending an IC title. After the custody of dom ladder match. This match was built as an Eddie tribute. With AJ Styles entering in a low rider with his own son, wearing custom Eddie type gear. Doing Eddie Lie Cheat and Steal stuff like the chair spot. Inadvertently kicking each other in the balls. AJ is using the calf crusher and Dominik had unzipped the boot so his foot slipped out of the submission. He used the boot to strike AJ before hitting a frog splash for a win. A very fun match as a whole.
Results: Dominik Mysterio by Pinfall via Frog Splash

PERFECT John Cena Vs Cody Rhodes – WWE Championship Street Fight: WWE Summerslam 2025 Sunday Main Event
This is very much one of the best matches that we have seen from John Cena in years. From the heated start they start in the second gear and go the distance hitting several others. With a crowd firmly behind the real John Cena who was there in color and the hustle loyalty respect was back. Its a hard hitting match with great table spots and great visuals. From John Cena carrying Cody on his shoulder as they rode the Codyvator. While there can be an argument of the finishers being overused, its not hard to get lost in them. Cody saluting Cena before the final cross Rhodes is poetic. The torch was passed and the crowd embraced Cody in victory.
Results: Cody Rhodes by Pinfall via Cross Rhodes
