WWE Summerslam 2025 Saturday kicked off the historic two night Summerslam with a bang. Enjoyable matches from start to finish, a great opener that saw Roman Reigns finally say sorry to Jey in possibly his own way. Taking a Bron Breakker shaped bullet in the best spear in the game. Jey got the win for himself and his cousin as they overcome the new force of Bronson and Bron. New tag team champions with Charlotte finally proving she has Alexa’s back. Sami Zayn finally defeated Kross with their gentlemen’s bet of who is right or wrong. Tiffany Stratton racks up a surprising win over Jade. Logan Paul proves superiority over outsider Jelly Roll.
Gunther and CM Punk have a classic war that might have gone too long, but it is amazing to say we had a PLE main event without outside interference for the first time in… months? As CM Punk overcame the Ring General, Seth Rollins came out and revealed the injury was faked. Seth Rollins had the Ruse of the century, as he cashed in on CM Punk in an amazing PLE ending. Summerslam Saturday was solidly done as a whole with room for more exciting happenings on the second event.
WWE Summerslam 2025 Saturday brings a historic start to a new era with the biggest party of the summer set to join the two night PLE format. The world heavyweight championship is on the line in a first time match up between Gunther and CM Punk. Jey Uso teams up with his cousin Roman Reigns to face the dominant duo that is a part of Seth’s future, Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker. Queen Of The Ring winner Jade Cargill faces the longest reigning champion of all of WWE, Tiffany Stratton. Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss get a second chance to get the tag titles, this time as the only challengers to Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez. Sami Zayn and Karrion Kross collide in a third match in their trilogy. Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre team up to go over an outsider backed by the viper Randy Orton, Jelly Roll.
AMAZING Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed Vs Roman Reigns and Jey Uso: WWE Summerslam 2025 Saturday Opening Match
Fundamentals: 0.75
Atmosphere: 1
Storytelling: 0.75
Psychology: 1
Innovation: 0.75
As a whole this is a fun opening match that goes a little longer than it probably should. There are instances of Breakker mocking Roman as he worked down on Jey Uso. Even Jey and Roman doing the Day One Ish encore in the middle of the match. It’s a fun match with a really good crowd, some crazy spots like Roman almost diving past but nothing more. There are good storytelling beats with Roman and Jey starting to overcome the dominance of Heyman’s duo. Roman helps Jey avoid moments of danger and saves him. Jey Uso being pushed out of the way of Bron’s spear is what gives Jey the edge. Bron spears Reigns and Jey takes over and gets the win on Reed.
Results: Jey Uso by Pinfall via Spear and Uso Splash on Reed.

AMAZING Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez Vs Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair – Women’s Tag Team Championships:

Storytelling: 0.75
Psychology: 1
Innovation: 0.75
As a whole this is a fun tag match that had the tough spot of following the longer and hotter opening tag match. This is well done with storytelling beats that revolve around Roxanne and Raquel gelling better as the team and putting Charlotte and Alexa in the position of underdogs. There is a great moment with a phenomenal forearm from Bliss to Flair. Flair has a genuinely brilliant sell with Alexa selling the shock as well. There is a really well done feel good moment where Alexa has Roxanne in the sister Abigail hold, and Charlotte proves she has Alexa’s back by giving a big boot to Raquel before Alexa gets the win.
Results: Alexa Bliss by Pinfall via Sister Abigail DDT on Roxanne Perez

GREAT Sami Zayn Vs Karrion Kross with Scarlett:

Once again this is a methodical match from Karrion Kross. Hard hitting to start while they have a spurt outside of the ring. Kross gets his moments like a DVD and some of his doomsday saito suplexes. Karrion continues with the mindgames including the chance to use his lead pipe on Sami while Scarlett distracted the ref. Sami counters it and the pipe is sent outside of the ring. Zayn would start to lose control during the match, stomping on Kross on the ropes and the ref needed to pull him away. Scarlett would tempt Sami with the lead pipe with the crowd wanting it to happen, for Sami to give in. Sami threw the pipe outside of the ring almost getting some boos for it as he got the win with an exploder and helluva kick shortly after.
Results: Sami Zayn by Pinfall via Helluva Kick

GREAT Tiffany Stratton Vs Jade Cargill – WWE Women’s Championship:
Fundamentals: 0.50
Atmosphere: 1
Storytelling: 0.75
Psychology: 0.75
Innovation: 0.75
Tiffany and Jade have the shortest match on the card which is an interesting conversation as a whole. This is a hard hitting sprint with Jade getting pump kicks, and the two of them trading several counters of each other’s big spots. The kick out of the Jaded should have been a great moment but Jade was caught putting Tiffany’s leg on the rope. Which is a divisive talk as a whole. The PME got countered with a great looking up kick. Tiffany countering the super jaded wasn’t perfectly done but still got a really great reaction with both having strong percentages of the crowd supporting them. Tiffany gets a shock win with a PME in this overall solid enough sprint between the both of them.
Results: Tiffany Stratton by Pinfall via Prettiest Moonsault Ever

AMAZING Randy Orton and Jelly Roll Vs Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul:
Fundamentals: 0.75
Atmosphere: 1
Storytelling: 1
Psychology: 1
Innovation: 0.50
Jelly earns his stripes, he has respect of the people that trained with him. And he showed out. Not to the level of bad bunny or logan paul, this was a well done match. Jelly taking the frog splash through the table was a crazy moment that should go viral. Jelly and Randy both spend time on the defense being worked on by the heels Drew and Logan. As officials were trying to walk Jelly to the back, he saw his partner in distress and powered himself to make the hot tag. Getting the Black Roll Slam, and another chokeslam. A handful of finishers lead to Logan Paul hitting the Frog Splash for the win.
Results: Logan Paul by Pinfall via Paul From Grace Frog Splash On Jelly Roll
Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 4.25 Stars
PERFECT Gunther Vs CM Punk – World Heavyweight Championship: WWE Summerslam 2025 Saturday Main Event
This was a match with Gunther dominating and controlling the pace. A story of CM Punk’s resilience and experience to get out of certain holds and positions. Getting a Sharpshooter out of Gunther’s own submission. The crowd is firmly against Gunther and in support of Punk and there are no dull moments. Punk gets little glimpses of hope and opportunity but Gunther regains control like the General he is. Gunther gets a little too cocky on the outside and Punk trips him on the announce table. Punk recovers by the ring as Gunther ends up bleeding from the forehead.
The was the tide turning, Gunther seeing his own blood. A final boss of a video game having the red beating health bar. Gunther gets one last sleeper hold but Punk is able to get two GTS’ to upcoming the dominant champion. It’s a very well done match and a main event without outside interference.
Results: CM Punk by Pinfall via Consecutive GTS’ On Gunther
