Rhodes and his wife Brandi left AEW in February after they could not come to an agreement on their contracts with CEO Tony Khan.
Soon after the news broke, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful put out a Tweet, stating that he had “spoke to a lot of top WWE talent last month [who seemed] very excited” about the idea of Rhodes returning to the company.
With less than three weeks left before WrestleMania 38, Seth Rollins has been left without an opponent for the event which has led many to believe that Rhodes will be his opponent for the Showcase of the Immortals. The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer has also reported that the match was internally listed on Monday. This week’s RAW will be held in the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois, leading to speculation on social media that Rhodes will appear to confront Rollins (as it is also being rumoured that he will be part of the RAW brand).
