WWE Smackdown October 27 2023 delivered effective builds towards two marquee matches for Crown Jewel. The Contract Signing hit all the right notes between Roman and LA Knight. And John Cena’s ability to tug on the heartstrings just hits different now. With masters of communication in Paul Heyman and John Cena really selling the Solo Vs Cena match. Bianca Belair started her own build to Crown Jewel as she faces Iyo Sky. Logan Paul also knocked out Rey Mysterio backstage. But there aside from the backstage promos that revolved around Roman and LA Knight, there are some elements of filler. From Kevin Owens making a bet that he could use one punch to hit both Theory and Waller. To Chelsea Green having a singles match with Shotzi and a wild appearance from Cedric Alexander. Overall a show carried by the storytelling as none of the matches were anything special and the crowd was only electric for the opening segment, the Cena segment and the main event.

The Street Profits face Santos Escobar and a man making his in-ring return to Smackdown, Carlito! MUST WATCH LA Knight and Roman Reigns Contract Signing: WWE Smackdown October 27 2023 Opening Promo
As Roman is making the first entrance, Roman is cut off from posing with the title high above his head. LA Knight’s theme hits and he walks right past Roman. In the ring, Heyman prepares the seat at the head of the table for Roman before Knight sits in it first. LA Knight says that the contract says that Roman is going to hand over the championship to him, then proceeds to sign it first. Roman Reigns tries to mock LA Knight by mentioning how it is Knight’s first contract signing and first world title shot. Roman signs the contract before LA Knight, who is sitting at the head of the table, tells Roman to acknowledge him.
Knight goes into how Roman is right about it being his first. LA continues to talk about how it’s been a year and he is already ready to take the championship from Roman Reigns. Saying that Roman shouldn’t underestimate him or else he already lost. Knight says he only needs one time while Roman failed doing Suffering Succotash. And that he can’t stop the gravy train. Reigns’ ends the contract signing by using the table on Knight. Roman gets a new table from under the ring and sets it up. Knight ends up fighting back with the yeah stomps in the corner. Jimmy Uso comes out and helps Reigns retreat before being back suplexed through the table.

GOOD Street Profits with Bobby Lashley Vs Carlito and Santos Escobar: WWE Smackdown October 27 2023 First Match
Street Profits got a new theme and presentation with Lashley’s big drum intro. Basic tag psychology present for the first part of the match. Lashley being key in the profits taking control. Not for long though with Carlito getting a dropkick on Dawkins, Santos helping send Montez over the top rope. Carlito stops Santos from diving before doing his own dive over the top rope onto the Profits. Throughout the match, Rey Mysterio is shown backstage watching on the monitor, on what seemed to be the third or fourth time, Logan Paul had attacked Rey with a knockout punch.
Carlito was worried for his friend Rey, so he ran to the back and left Santos as the legal match. Santos has a short lived stint of having momentum against Angelo and Montez. A blind tag caused Santos to go for a diving crossbody onto Montez but missed. Angelo picked him up as they connected with the Sky High and Neckbreaker Combo.

Backstage Segments:
Roman Reigns is in his locker room with Heyman holding a Green Bay Packers custom WWE championship. Paul tells Roman he is going to give it to LA Knight. Stating that it’s the closest he or the Packers would come close to winning a championship. Jimmy Uso comes into the room as he is holding his ribs from being put through a table. Jey tries to say he is too hurt but Roman gets him to easily think otherwise. Roman then tells Paul to make the match official for the main event, LA Knight Vs Jimmy Uso.
Logan Paul runs into Kevin Owens as he was asked about the advantage he has over Rey. Logan walks away from Kevin before Theory and Waller show up. Kevin makes a bet that he could punch both of them in the face with one punch. Officials split them up before Kevin sneaks his way back to the area and actually does it. Kevin proves himself and Jamie Noble right as Waller and Theory are holding their face on the ground.
Dragon Lee in a backstage interview mentions that he is grateful to be on Smackdown before Cedric Alexander walks in. Cedric introduces himself before laying out a challenge for Dragon Lee to wrestle later.
SQUASH Shotzi Vs Chelsea Green:
They both have some offense in the match. Chelsea countered a middle rope springboard with a russian leg sweep off of the middle rope. Green gets a solid diving dropkick before barely covering Shotzi for a pin. Shotzi grabs Chelsea in a crucifix position and gets the win after that.

PERFECT John Cena Promo:
Cena praises the sold out Milwaukee crowd. John continues to talk in a serious tone, mentioning how he was almost fired 20 years ago. John Cena continues to talk about how is doubting his ability, saying if he loses the connection to the WWE universe, he will lose the ability to be in WWE. There is a point where Cena literally kneels down about to break down and John still has the ability to send shivers down someone’s spine. Receiving you still got it chants as Cena asked what if I don’t.
Heyman ends up coming out and puts over John Cena by talking about telling Vince that Cena was his #1 OVW Draft pick. Paul mentions that Cena is the Greatest Of All Time when it comes to communication. And instantly starts to say what if Solo Sikoa spikes him that hard to ruin Cena’s voice. Sikoa runs down and attacks John from behind and does just that, connecting with the spike. From a perfect crowd, John Cena and Paul Heyman are two masters of the promo craft and this promo sold the match at Crown Jewel. My writing can not do this promo justice.

GOOD Dragon Lee Vs Cedric Alexander:
A match that shockingly got an ad break in it. Dragon Lee and Cedric Alexander got a good amount of time to just showcase their ability. Solid action with a good enough crowd but not much story other than Cedric wanting to prove himself against the new talent. There were solid spots in this match and it was a fun match overall.

GOOD Bianca Belair Promo:
Bianca talks about the beat down from August is hard to watch. Also that she struggled to stand up and brush it off from the beat down that she received weeks after Summerslam. Belair mentions how was consumed by vengeance that was her motivation. She reveals that Crown Jewel is the Iyo Sky Vs Bianca Belair rematch made official by Nick Aldis. And that she is going to face Bayley next week. “Damage CTRL” are shown backstage talking about what Bianca said without being able to know what they said.

GREAT Jimmy Uso Vs LA Knight: WWE Smackdown October 27 2023 Main Event
Easily Jimmy’s best singles match since the whole summerslam heel turn. From a very hot crowd chanting Jey is better and Knight receiving pops for when he gets offense. Knight sold very well for Jimmy Uso in this match and of course LA Knight gets the win. That jump into the superplex will never not be impressive. And the BFT was very smooth. LA Knight stands tall after the victory before side stepping Roman and getting a BFT on Roman himself to close the show.
Results: LA Knight by Pinfall via Blunt Force Trauma.
