WWE Smackdown May 9 2025 does a really good job with being a go home show for Backlash. With Drew McIntyre hitting a claymore on Jacob. Almost all 4 men get some mic time along with the match giving Knight the win over Solo. John Cena also cuts another really awesome promo on Randy Orton continuing to display this savage side of John Cena. Randy stood tall with an RKO again.
The rest of this show built on everything else, Nia Jax becoming number one contender because of Naomi’s distraction. Charlotte Flair crashing out, a returning Alexa Bliss aids Zelina Vega but also is going to engage with Charlotte? Berto has had enough of Santos Escobar’s mistreatment. Fraxiom gets a win over the Street Profits in an electric match. There are a lot of good things happening on Smackdown and its not just for Backlash.
WWE Smackdown May 9 2025 brings the last show before Backlash. With John Cena making an appearance before he faces Randy Orton one last time. Nia Jax and Jade Cargill collide with the intention of becoming number one contender. LA Knight and Damian Priest take on Solo Sikoa and US Champion Jacob Fatu. GREAT LA Knight and Damian Priest Vs Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu: WWE Smackdown May 9 2025 Opening Match
Of course this was gonna have the two challengers of Jacob Fatu having tension and not being on the same page. A logical aspect of the match that did take place. Solo was the only one in the match really getting booed. LA and Damian were cheered along with Jacob Fatu. Damian had some heat when he was the first to tag himself in. Tensions between LA and Damian were rising but they still got the win in the match. After the match Damian and Knight get involved in a brawl with each other. Jacob Fatu would lay them both out. As Fatu is standing tall, Drew McIntyre claymores him.
Results: LA Knight by Pinfall via BFT on Solo Sikoa

GREAT Alexa Bliss and Zelina Vega Vs Chelsea Green and Piper Niven:
It is getting hard to count on one hand how many great reactions Alexa Bliss has gotten this year. This is a very fun tag match with the crowd on the edge of their seats waiting for Alexa to be tagged in. The heel team does work on Zelina Vega with the crowd openly chanting for Alexa Bliss. Alexa getting these reactions definitely gave the match a little rating boost. Once Bliss got the hot tag she ran right through Chelsea Green. Building up towards a twisted bliss which was hit. Piper broke up the pin before Vega and Bliss have to work together to get Vega’s code red on Piper. Alexa would get the win by hitting the Sister Abigail DDT.
Results: Alexa Bliss by Pinfall via Sister Abigail DDT on Chelsea

GOOD Charlotte Flair Promo:
After basically admitting that she took Tiffany to the limit. Saying that she did her best after her injury. Charlotte tries to address what is next for her. The crowd was openly booing Charlotte and Flair said they had one chance before she left. Charlotte would drop the mic and leave. Jade Cargill interrupted her exit on the ramp. Jade went into the ring and said to Charlotte to get in the back of the line before Charlotte left angrily.

GREAT Jade Cargill Vs Nia Jax – Number One Contenders:
Tiffany was ringside and watching the match. Nia and Jade have a good match here. Jade has the explosiveness and the power to hit solid offense on Nia. Hitting a slam off of the top rope. Nia was getting you can’t wrestle chants also. A chant that doesn’t help the atmosphere of the match. Naomi would appear ringside, attacking Tiffany Stratton and distracting Cargill. Nia would then get the Anniahilator for the win.
Results: Jade Cargill by Pinfall via AnNiahilator
Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 3.50 Stars
GREAT Street Profits and Fraxiom Promo:
Street Profits share their thoughts on the TLC match, calling it the greatest TLC tag match of all time. Saying that they are proving that they are one of the best teams going now and that the Profits are always gonna come out on top. Fraxiom come out, give them respect and say that the titles would look good on them. Wanting a title shot, Montez and Dawkins share skeptical thoughts with Nick Aldis coming out and agreeing. Fraxiom is then awarded a non title match with the beaten up champions.

MUST WATCH Street Profits Vs Fraxiom: WWE Smackdown May 9 2025 Watch This
Thank you sir may I have another. Street Profits are damaged and they were fighting from below. The championship had taped ribs, a taped knee and arm. Psychologically this match is off the charts great with the champions selling their TLC damage. Fraxiom are so so good in the ring. There are great sequences, great moments. Each team get their moves in while getting the crowd behind them. The frog splash is countered and then Fraxiom get the win with the high low missile drop kick and leg sweep. A second tag finish called Catapult to Infernal. Fraxiom are now the number one contenders.
Results: Fraxiom by Pinfall via Catapult To Infernal? on Montez
Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 4.50 Stars
GOOD Carmelo Hayes Vs Aleister Black:
This was just alright. Its good wrestling from Aleister and Carmelo Hayes but its nothing more. Some fun sequences with Black’s striking. Hayes getting his athletic side out. The brainbuster was nice. Miz was being a distraction so Hayes got rolled up. Miz got in the ring and hit with the black mass. Black left the ring and sat cross legged on the ramp.
Results: Aleister Black by Pinfall via Roll Up
Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 3.25 Stars
GREAT Andrade and Rey Fenix Vs Los Garza with Santos: WWE Smackdown May 9 2025 Main Event
Awesome Lucha Libre action from all four guys here. Fun sequences and spots. A general build with Los Garza having Santos distracting the ref. Santos screwed his own team as Berto had a roll up. The finish with Andrade hitting both the back elbow, Rey with a big dive and the message was a fun way. Andrade with a win is something to celebrate. After the match, Santos is irate but Berto is sick of it and leaves the ring after pushing Escobar.
Results: Andrade by Pinfall via the Message on Berto

MUST WATCH John Cena Promo: WWE Smackdown May 9 2025 Last Segment
While there is a little bit of an overlap with what John has been saying in his promos. They are still very well done. John talks about Randy’s family legacy, saying both of the first and second generations have nothing to be proud of. Claiming that Randy doesn’t have the hustle as he was given the job. John even went on to mention Randy’s drug failure. This is a savage John Cena and it works. He says Backlash will have Randy being a failure and that John continues to prove that Winners right the history books. A fake Randy Orton comes behind and gets hit with an AA. Randy would then come behind and hit an RKO to stand tall.
