WWE Smackdown May 2 2025 was a very solid show. With a relatively strong in ring presence. The Miz made Aleister Black look great in his return. Damian Priest and LA Knight were having a really solid and hard hitting match before Solo interrupted. Zelina fought from below to get a win against Piper Niven. Santos Escobar helped get Rey Fenix back on the right track post Wrestlemania. Jade Cargill looked like a beast in the “Can they coexist?” main event.
Randy Orton did a great promo on John Cena. Solo Sikoa clearly is the reason why Jacob Fatu has to face Drew, Damian and Knight. Issues surrounding Legado Del Fantasma exist. Fraxiom got more momentum and Carmelo Hayes Vs Aleister Black was teased. Smackdown did well creating / advancing new and current directions for their roster. A solid in ring show with solid storyline progression.
WWE Smackdown May 2 2025 brings the in-ring return for Aleister Black. Aleister takes on the man he attacked the week prior in The Miz. After costing LA Knight the right to challenge Jacob Fatu. Damian Priest and LA Knight come face to face for a match. Making her return to Smackdown after a brief absence, Nia Jax returns to Smackdown after attacking the champion Tiffany Stratton. What’s next for Fraxiom after officially debuting on Smackdown?
GREAT LA Knight and Damian Priest Promo: WWE Smackdown May 2 2025 Opening Promo
LA Knight opens the show by coming out in his gear. The Knight and Priest match is mentioned as the apparent main event for the night. He goes on to mention how he wanted to get back to the US title but couldn’t because of Damian’s actions. Damian was quick to come out and interject. Mentioning he had no problems with the megastar. Priest would tell Knight that LA’s issues are because of Knight losing at Wrestlemania. Continuing to mention not having personal issues with them. Priest then got the idea of having their match now instead of later which was approved with a referee coming down to the ring.

GREAT Damian Priest Vs LA Knight: WWE Smackdown May 2 2025 First Match
While this is an obvious lose lose scenario. Both couldn’t really lose, this was a very hard hitting match. It’s a very enjoyable match with both men getting great spots and nearfalls. It really felt like tensions were building throughout the match. The counter of the sliding dropkick into an apron flatliner was a great spot. Solo Sikoa does interfere and attack both men causing a No Contest. Soon Jacob makes the save as Sikoa was about to be put through the announce table. Jacob ends up standing tall with Sikoa recovering below him.
Results: No Contest by Solo Sikoa Interference

GOOD Fraxiom Vs Pretty Deadly:
Definitely a match that could’ve gone far far better. This revolves around Fraxiom being the babyface and while having a short little face run, PD are the heels. PD always are really good with their tag team psychology, being able to work down their opponent. Fraxiom gets some good moments. There’s a point where the ref doesn’t count to 3 with Elton Prince not kicking out, potentially having a busted face. There are also several moments of just off feelings. Pretty Deadly got some chants but were able to direct them back to heel reactions. Fraxiom got the win but the match kinda fell flat after the clear and obvious issue.
Results: Fraxiom by Pinfall via Spanish Fly and Phoenix Splash on Kit Wilson

GOOD Nia Jax, Tiffany Stratton and Naomi Promo:
Nia Jax attempts to clear the air, mentioning how being off of Smackdown she gets to refocus herself. A basic thing either heel or face will use to explain their actions. Claiming she was back to take what was hers. Tiffany Stratton came out as the face once again. Tiffany claims she isn’t the same Tiffany that Nia could bully around anymore. Also mentioning being a fighting champion when Nia mentions a rematch. Naomi would come out and share hostile feelings towards both Tiffany and Nia. Saying that she isn’t done going for the gold. Jade Cargill came out and chased Naomi away. Nick Aldis would set up a tag match that felt like it was next but it became the main event.

GREAT Aleister Black Vs The Miz:
While there isn’t much of a story, we do know why these two are wrestling. It’s a simple reason but there’s a lot of great within this match. Aleister getting to reintroduce himself to the WWE audience. Getting some of his strikes. The Miz does well in selling the offense of Black. He makes Aleister look good and dangerous. From avoiding the Black Mass in the early parts of the match. While this match might have gone a little too long, its still a solid match. Aleister cartwheeling out of the skull crushing finale did give this match a boost, a great counter that got a great pop. Hayes briefly distracted Aleister but eventually The Miz is hit with the Black Mass.
Results: Aleister Black by Pinfall via Black Mass

GOOD Zelina Vega Vs Piper Niven:
From character work, to being able to help get Zelina Vega over, Chelsea deserves it all. This match had Zelina fighting from below with Piper in control. By the end of this match the crowd were firmly behind and supporting Zelina Vega. The heels try to use the numbers game but Zelina gets the win.
Results: Zelina Vega by Pinfall via Roll Up

AMAZING Randy Orton Promo:
Randy mentioned Cena claiming he raised kids for 25 years. He claimed that John would only raise his merch and make sure the merch stands had his shirts, wrist bands, hats etc. Claiming John only cared about his downside. Randy also brought up the three words, hustle loyalty and respect. Loyalty out the window, but respect was gone as well with John wanting to erase the Orton name from the business. Randy says not over his dead body. Also claiming that John Cena is the last legend he has to kill. Wanting to punt kick his head through the St Louis arch.
Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 4.25 Stars
GREAT Santos Escobar Vs Rey Fenix:
Honestly, it might be my favourite Fenix match since coming to WWE. Santos and Fenix have a hard hitting match. Trading chop after chop. Countering spots like the rope walk. I do feel the crowd really only cared about Fenix’s offense and him fighting back. It’s a very good match with Santos making Rey’s stuff look good in the ring. Rey gets the win with a Top Rope Meteora, a different post compared to the MMB.
Results: Rey Fenix by Pinfall via Top Rope Meteora

AMAZING Jade Cargill and Tiffany Stratton Vs Nia Jax and Naomi: WWE Smackdown May 2 2025 Review
A “Can they coexist?” that matters. Tiffany and Jade both want the title, Tiffany has it. Nia and Naomi have trust issues with Naomi’s past. While the heels do work together, things do dissolve. Naomi tried to tag herself in to finish Jade but failed. A big powerbomb gave Jade the win and Jade looks very strong before the number one contenders match. Jade stops the title from being returned to Tiffany. Naomi would end the post match stuff standing tall, title in hand.
Results: Jade Cargill by Pinfall via Powerbomb on Nia Jax
