WWE Smackdown February 21 2025 is the first show in a long time that is quite a rough watch. With a good enough crowd that is very strong in certain places like The Rock appearance, LA Knight’s match and the Main Event. While having some weak moments throughout the show as well. With decisions that saw a title match ending in a no contest because of the Street Profits. They looked good beating up Pretty Deadly, DIY and MCMG though. Trish Stratus trying to save Tiffany Stratton after the match when before the match we heard Nia and Candice claim they wanted to beat Tiffany up tonight. The solo ref could stop Nia and Candice from attacking her?
Aside from Drew and Big Jim, and the main event tag match the wrestling has quite a major dip in quality. Knight/Truth Vs Melo Don’t Miz was a pointless tag match that really only matters because of the Nakamura attack. With a pointless spot of Truth counting the pin. Tiffany and Candice really didn’t do well in their match. Along with Charlotte being incredibly dire on commentary. Despite being advertised as a match, Naomi Vs Liv doesn’t happen as Liv and Raquel lay them out and it was a short beat down.
As a whole there are a couple of things that were accomplished on this show, The Rock stuff despite being a rough promo as whole. Charlotte standing over Tiffany. LA Knight clearly being next for Shinsuke Nakamura. Jacob Fatu superkicked Solo Sikoa by accident now, And The Street Profits looked great in domination. This is a very weak show that has matches that miss badly, a weak flow of the show as it quite literally revolved around The Rock being The Rock.
WWE Smackdown February 21 2025 revolves around the return of The Final Boss. With uncertainty in the air on the Road to Wrestlemania. Drew McIntyre is set to take on Big Jim Uso. DIY defends against Pretty Deadly after weeks of being mistreated by their potential former friends. The Bloodline are also advertised for six man tag action against Braun Strowman, Damian Priest and Cody Rhodes.
The first segment was a short thing of Aldis and Cody Rhodes backstage. Cody is informed he has been pulled from the main event, by orders of The Rock. Nick Aldis informs Cody about the
GOOD Drew McIntyre Vs Jimmy Uso: WWE Smackdown February 21 2025 Opening Match
Jimmy Uso is of course at the mercy of a stronger superstar in Drew McIntyre. Having to fight from below. Drew hit the reverse Alabama slam onto the steps for a fun little spot. Jimmy easily is the underdog here but it was somewhat of a tough crowd to start the show off. Some good work with how Drew hit a heatbutt. Overall dominating Jimmy while talking trash into his face. Drew tries to hit another reverse Alabama slam on Jimmy but Jimmy gets a victory roll for the win. After the match Jimmy is beaten up and Drew ends up hitting a claymore after escaping the producers trying to stop him.
Results: Jimmy Uso by Pinfall via Victory Roll
Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 3.25 Stars
ABOVE AVERAGE Melo Don’t Miz, Carmelo and Miz Vs R Truth and LA Knight:
This is somewhat of a dull match. The Miz trying to bond and get a friendship with Carmelo is whatever. LA Knight was confused to be a hometown star by Truth. Truth goes as far as counting a pin like a referee. The match is clunky, slow and overall just boring. Knight’s parts good in terms his hot tag and his offense. On the outside of the ring, Shinsuke ends up attacking LA Knight. Hitting him with a Kinshasa into the LED post. Carmelo and The Miz connect with a Skull Crushing Finale and the First 48 Codebreaker. It didn’t look great but the concept is fun.
Results: Carmelo Hayes by Pinfall via First 48 and Skull Crushing Finale Combo
Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 2.50 Stars
ABOVE AVERAGE Tiffany Stratton Promo:
Tiffany mentions that she was going to have Nia beaten but Candice got her DQed. Saying that at Elimination Chamber the irresistible force will come to an end. Confirming Trish and Tiffany Vs Candice and Nia. She attempts to start talking about Charlotte picking her and saying that she is coming for Charlotte’s spot. Nia Jax comes out and scoffs at the idea that Tiffany had her beat. Saying she wont see Mania because Nia will beat her. Tiffany and Candice claim they don’t want to wait until next week but are stopped by a referee.
Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 2.50 Stars
ABOVE AVERAGE Tiffany Stratton Vs Candice LeRae:
Something really didn’t click here. There are good moments and spots with Tiffany. Her stuff looks great. Hitting a cartwheel before hitting a dropkick to Nia on the outside was fun. The moonsault really didn’t hit the way it should have. It made sense to work with Nia on the outside but ultimately Tiffany wins with the PME. Charlotte is dire on commentary saying so many contradictory things that do take away from the match.
After the match Nia attacks and they attempt to take out Tiffany. Trish Stratus makes the save over ten minutes after hearing Candice and Nia, not wanting to wait until next week. Trish gets some shots and despite helping Tiffany up, Trish is attacked by Candice with the knee. Both Trish and Tiffany get hit with a weak looking AnNiahilator when stacked.
Results: Tiffany Stratton by Pinfall via Prettiest Moonsault Ever
Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 2.50 tars
During Naomi’s entrance, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez come out and attack them. Leaving the champions taken out so the scheduled Liv and Naomi match does not take place.
ABOVE AVERAGE The Rock and Cody Rhodes Promo: WWE Smackdown February 21 2025 Highlight?
It’s tough rating this as one segment but it is. The Rock comes out and ends up announcing Wrestlemania 42 in NOLA. It’s fun, it’s cool, The Rock goes back to FInal Boss mode roasting the fans he just celebrated the announcement with? Cody Rhodes really doesn’t say much as The Rock is doing a lot of rambling on about wanting Cody to be his brother. The crowd really lost investment. Going from a crowd happy to see The Rock before booing this promo as a whole. It is just not ideal. The Rock doesn’t have his character consistent in the promo, one flip is fine but back and forth several times in it is rough.
Rock says he and Cody are now great friends but he wants him to become his Champion. Saying he wants Cody’s soul. That’s it, it’s a confusing promo that is not delivered too well at this point.
Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 2.75 Stars
ABOVE AVERAGE DIY Vs Pretty Deadly – WWE Tag Team Championship:
A match that really didn’t get proper time to develop. Pretty Deadly got a couple moments, the crowd just witnessed the Rock stuff so they weren’t really too hot for this. The wrestling itself is performed well, its just a six minute match that ends in no contest. The Street Profits attack and beat down everyone. MCMG try to make the save with no pop but fail. The Street Profits look great.
Results: No Contest by Double DQ via Street Profits Attacking Everyone
Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 2.75 Stars
GREAT Damian Priest and Braun Strowman Vs Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu: WWE Smackdown February 21 2025 Main Event
This is a fun match as a whole. Nothing wrong with what happened here. Solo and Jacob get their time to control the match as the heel team. Strowman and Priest get their moments to shine alone with doing the strowman express. Tama Tonga stopped him the first time he tried it, allowing Jacob to take him out. Fatu is getting chants at this point, he is going to be a monster. The dynamic of Solo and Jacob is put to the test especially when Jacob superkicked Solo this week. Damian gets the win and now we have something intriguing within Solo’s bloodline.
Results: Damian Priest by Pinfall via South Of Heaven on Solo Sikoa
Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 3.50 Stars
