At WrestleCade Revenge, Sean Ross Sapp talks with the former IIconics, now called the Inspiration. In this interview, Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay tell Sapp that WWE rejected a pitched IIconics podcast.
The Inspiration said they felt lost and inauthentic in WWE trying to be superstars and wanted fans to know them and not their characters.
Cassie said, “That’s what we wanted to create, the platform where we could create Cassie and Jessie and let people know who they are because, for the last six years, they only knew Billie and Peyton. So that was important to us.”
Jessie added, “We put so much pressure on ourselves in WWE to be the perfect superstar and that’s just not real. Now we get to actually be real, down-to-earth people.”
The IInspiration have also revealed that they pitched to WWE to have their own podcast. However, WWE told them no.
Jessie began, “The podcast, we pitched it and it got a big fat no.”
Cassie continued, “But we always had it in our back pocket because one day. There’s always going to be life after WWE.”
Both women immediately wanted to make a podcast of their own. Cassie and Jessie host the Off Her Chops podcast. They started making this podcast less than 24 hours after they were released from WWE.
The Inspiration are thriving as the IMPACT Wrestling Knockout Tag Team Champions. They are also using their talent outside of wrestling. Recently, Jessie and Cassie have been acting and making their podcast. The Off Her Chops podcast releases new episodes at midnight every Thursday.
Cassie Lee said, “I want to say it was pretty damn quick. It was the day after. Because Jess was like, ‘I want some time. We’re gonna move forward together, but I need some time to get through this.’ I said, ‘Yep. I respect that,’ and I couldn’t fucking wait.”
