According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW wanted to use the “King of Hart’s” name for its upcoming tournament in memory of Owen Hart. However, they were blocked from being able to use that name.
There’s no confirmation of whom is preventing the “King of Hart’s” name being used and interestingly the WWE does not currently have a trademark for that name, even though Owen Hart began using the “King of Hart’s” gimmick in the WWE in 1994 after winning the King of The Ring tournament.
AEW have recently started a partnership with the Owen Hart Foundation to honour the late great Owen Hart’s legacy. This partnership will include an annual Owen Hart cup in AEW, unique Owen Hart merchandise and much more.
