Jonathan Gresham has cemented himself as the heart and soul of Ring of Honor over the past few years with his hard work and sublime wrestling skills. Last year, at ROH’s Final Battle pay-per-view, he captured the ROH World Title for the first time in his career by defeating former tag partner Jay Lethal. However, his work doesn’t stop at Ring of Honor.
Since ROH’s hiatus, Gresham has been making the rounds in the UK’s Progress Wrestling, where he captured the promotion’s top prize. He won the Progress World title from then-champion Cara Noir, but it would seem that WWE wasn’t willing to air that match on their network. As reported by Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the bout was edited from the program. It’s worth noting, however, that his first defense against Warren Banks was not removed.
Gresham defended his ROH World title against Dalton Castle this past week on AEW Battle of the Belts II, marking both stars debuts in the company. The main prize for Tony Khan’s newly acquired promotion received a lot of attention from the match, which saw the champion retain. Unfortunately, Gresham was said to have sustained a concussion during the bout.
While the injury is not as severe as it could have been, rumor has it that he could be out of action for a while. Hopefully, he will make a speedy recovery as ROH finds itself entering new territory since the company’s acquisition. We here at Wrestling Republic wish the Ring of Honor World Champion a speedy recovery.
