NXT 2.0 kicked off its premiere episode with a mix of recognizable brand favourites and fresh new faces. Amongst those new faces is Von Wagner, a talent who is receiving a lot of praise from WWE management. According to WrestlingNews.co, WWE management is said to be very happy with Von Wagner’s improvement since his signing in March of 2019.
It was reported that another source claims that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon sees the NXT 2.0 superstar as having a bright future and even Wrestlemania main event potential.
“Vince sees him as a future Wrestlemania main eventer. That should tell you everything about his future here.”
This could explain the sudden replacement of Kyle O’Reilly from the Fatal 4 Way NXT Title Match which took place on the debut episode of NXT 2.0 last Tuesday night. O’Reilly’s absence from the program led to Wagner being quickly inserted into the developmental re-brand’s main title picture.
The highly praised young talent is no stranger to the wrestling business. Wagner is the son of former tag team wrestling star Wayne Bloom, who wrestled for the AWA, WWE and WCW under the ring name Beau Beverly as part of the Beverly Brothers tag team.
Before his signing in March of 2019, Wagner (real name Cal Bloom) had a decorated college football career playing for the University of Central Florida. Bloom joins Parker Boudreaux as another UCF Knights alumni to be recently signed to a developmental deal. It remains to be seen whether Wagner will continue to flourish and be seen as something special in the eyes of upper management within WWE. However, with the current praise that the NXT newcomer is receiving, fans can expect a big future.
