One of the biggest wrestlers of all time, the late Viscera was an imposing figure at 6’9 and almost 500 pounds. To honor what would have been his 52nd birthday, he is today’s Wrestler of the Day.
The man who became known as Viscera got his start in wrestling with the Pro Wrestling Federation. He was a multi-time PWF tag team champion before joining WWE in 1993. He quickly became a tag team champion with WWE as a part of the team Men on a Mission. Despite this success, Viscera (then known as Mabel) moved into singles wrestling due to the fact his size made him a standout.
Despite winning the King of the Ring tournament in 1995, Mabel had a quick fall from grace after injuring Kevin Nash at their SummerSlam title match and later injuring the Undertaker as well. Safe to say that injuring the company’s top stars is an easy way to get on the boss’s bad side.
After bouncing around the indies, he returned to WWE and was rebranded as Viscera. In the spirit of Valentine’s day, it’s worth mentioning his gimmick as “The World’s Largest Love Machine” where he tried to seduce women such as Trish Stratus and ring announcer Lilian Garcia. Despite challenging for several major titles in WWE, Viscera never won a solo title in his time there. He was released in 2008 and passed away in 2014.
