For decades the Steiner Brothers dominated the tag team wrestling scene. Rick Steiner’s son, Bron Breakker, is continuing the family legacy. Today, Rick celebrates his 62nd birthday and it is, and for this reason, we are honoring him as the Wrestler of the Day.
Born in Detroit, Rick Steiner had a successful amateur career at the University of Michigan. While he is perhaps best known for tag-team wrestling, Rick Steiner got his professional start in solo competition. This didn’t last, as his brother Scott soon joined him in Jim Crockett Promotions, later WCW. The brothers were a dominant force, winning championships in WCW as well as Japan. Rick and Scott made a few jumps for different companies, joining WWE and later ECW.
The Steiner Brothers started to slow down after the turn of the century, wrestling again in Japan and later TNA. It was in TNA where the younger Steiner gave the infamous math promo. Since his in-ring career ended, Rick Steiner has gotten more involved with WWE due to his son signing with NXT and the Steiner Brothers getting inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2022. He was involved in a storyline with his son and Joe Gacy but hasn’t been on WWE tv since then.
