The new AEW International Champion, Rey Fenix, is the Wrestling Republic Wrestler of the Day for September 21st.

    Rey Fenix Biography:

    Birth Name: Unknown

    Age: 32 (December 30th, 1990)

    Height: 5’10

    Weight: 202 pounds

    Debut: 2005

Place of Birth: Mexico City, Mexico

Accolades: 1x AEW International Champion (current), 1x AEW World Tag Team Champion, 1x AEW World Trios Champion, 1x Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champion, 1x AAA Mega Champion, 2x AAA Tag Team Champion, 1x Impact World Tag Team Champion, #22 on the PWI 500 in 2019, #2 on PWI’s Top 50 tag teams in 2021

Known for being half of one of AEW’s top tag teams, the masked Rey Fenix won his first solo title in AEW. In honor of winning the International Title from Jon Moxley, Fenix is today’s Wrestler of the Day.

Like many Mexican luchadors, much of Fenix’s real identity remains a mystery. One known thing is that his brother is his tag team partner, Penta El Cero Miedo. Fenix and Penta have won tag team gold across the United States and Mexico. In addition, Fenix and Penta also wrestled in Japan.

American fans have come to know the Lucha Brothers from their work in All Elite Wrestling. Since joining AEW, Fenix and his older brother have been a staple of the tag team division, feuding with other top teams like the Young Bucks. This rivalry culminated in winning the AEW World Tag Team Championships in a cage match at All Out.

While he has won several tag titles in AEW, Fenix failed to win a singles title in his first few years with the company. This all changed, however, when he faced Jon Moxley for the AEW International Champion at Grand Slam. We’ll see how Fenix handles the pressure of defending a solo title.
