R-Truth is one of the biggest characters in the wrestling world. Constantly amusing the fans with his antics and funny promos. In celebration of his birthday, Truth is today’s Wrestler of the Day.
While known for his time with WWE, the real-life Ron Killings was only with WWE for a cup of coffee in the late 1990s and early 2000s. After his release, Killings signed with TNA where his career took off. He made history when he became the first African American to win the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Like many wrestlers, he grew disillusioned towards the end of his time in TNA. Before leaving, however, Ron Killings won the TNA Tag Titles with former NFL player Adam “Pacman” Jones.
After leaving TNA and rejoining WWE, Killings became the character we all know and love, R-Truth. While he had success on the mid-card, winning the US Title twice, R-Truth’s name came to be synonymous with the 24/7 Championship. His career is filled with highlights, including setting up a ladder in the Royal Rumble and promising to eliminate Paul Heyman at the rumble. Heyman of course was not in the rumble. In addition to wrestling, R-Truth dabbles in music, which includes performing his own entrance music live. Here’s to many more years of R-Truth bringing smiles to the WWE universe.
