Jay White, former leader of Bullet Club and current member of AEW, is the Wrestling Republic Wrestler of the Day for April 19th.

    Jay White Biography:

    Birth Name: Jamie White

    Age: 30 (October 9th, 1992)

    Height: 6’1

    Weight: 220 pounds

    Debut: 2013

Place of Birth: Auckland, New Zealand

Accolades: 1x IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, 1x IWGP World Champion, 1x IWGP Intercontinental Champion, 1x NEVER Openweight Champion, 1x IWGP United States Champion, #23 on the PWI 500 in 2023

One of the biggest free agents in professional wrestling, Jay White ended his free agency when he showed up in AEW on. Tonight, Jay White defeated Kommander on AEW Dynamite. To honor White’s victory in his new home, he is today’s Wrestler of the Day.

Jay White started wrestling in the UK, where he first met Prince Devitt (Finn Balor in WWE). This connection got White into New Japan Pro Wrestling but this initial run was short-lived, lasting just a year. From there, he went to Ring of Honor for a brief stint but failed to win a championship there.

In 2017, Jay White returned to New Japan and gradually became the star that we know today. Adopting the switchblade gimmick, his first championship win came after he defeated Kenny Omega for the IWGP United States Champion. Later on, White became the leader of the Bullet Club faction, feuding with the likes of Kazuchika Okada and Hiroshi Tanahashi. Defeating the latter to become IWGP World Heavyweight Champion. He also defended the title in a fatal four-way at the first Forbidden Door PPV.

Despite this success, by 2023, it became obvious that White was going to leave NJPW after losing a Loser Leaves New Japan Match to Eddie Kingston. Speculation was rampant about where Switchblade would go next, with some theorizing WWE was the next stop for him. On April 5th, the speculation came to an end when White appeared on AEW and announced he signed with them.
