Last night, Jay Briscoe was tragically killed in a car accident in Laurel, Delaware. To honor his memory, Briscoe is today’s Wrestler of the Day.

Born in Maryland, Briscoe and his brother Mark got their start in the business with Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW). Their time in CZW put them over and led to their breakout in professional wrestling. Despite success on the indie scene, Jay Briscoe and his brother are best known for their time in Ring of Honor (ROH). In fact, Jay took part in ROH’s first-ever show, The Era of Honor Begins.

In his twenty-plus years with ROH Jay Briscoe and his brother became the most decorated tag teams in ROH history. Winning more titles and holding them for more combined days than any other team. Briscoe also had success in Impact, New Japan, and GCW. he and his brother most recently defeated FTR in a dog collar match to become 13-time ROH World Tag Team Champions. Sadly, Jay passed away last night in a car accident. Briscoe is survived by his brother and three children, although his two daughters suffered serious injuries in the accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and that Jay’s daughters will make a full recovery.
