Wrestling was a natural career choice for the son of wrestling legend Johnny Valentine. Greg followed up his good bloodlines with training at the hands of Stu Hart, Antonio Inoki, and the Sheik. His training paid off as he debuted in Jim Crockett’s Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling in the 1970s. An early highlight was winning tag team gold with one of the greatest of all time, Ric Flair.
Valentine spent much of his career bouncing back and forth between the NWA, WCW, and the WWE. Notably, Valentine is he is one of the few wrestlers who competed on both the first Starrcade and the first Wrestlemania. Over the course of his hard-hitting career, he faced off against all-time greats of the sport including Bob Backlund, Ronnie Garvin, and Pedro Morales.
Greg Valentine wrestled sporadically for a variety of promotions in the twilight years of his career. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2004 by his former manager, Jimmy Hart.
