To honor the anniversary of the title win, Christian Cage is today’s Wrestler of the Day.
A native of Ontario, Canada, Christian Cage was childhood friends and trained in wrestling alongside future tag team partner, Edge. After teaming up on the independent scene, Edge and Christian signed with WWE, dropping the kayfabe last name of Cage. They featured in a star-studded tag team division that also featured the Hardys and the Dudley Boyz.
While a successful tag team wrestler, Cage has also achieved success as a singles competitor. In addition to the World Heavyweight Championship, he has also won the NWA World Championship and defeated Kenny Omega to become the Impact Champion. The mid-late 2000s saw Cage’s role in WWE reduce, ending with an appearance in the 2021 Royal Rumble. While a reduced WWE schedule suggested the end was near, Cage’s career has found new life in AEW.
