“The Genius” Lanny Poffo has Passed Away
WWE Legend Lanny Poffo has passed away. The news was revealed on Thursday. “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan through a post on his Facebook page. Currently no cause of death has been released. He was 68 years old.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan posted to his Facebook page:
“With a very, very heavy heart, I’ve been asked to let everyone know about the passing of our friend and colleague Lanny Poffo, The Genius.
RIP Lanny”
WWE Says Good-bye To “The Genius” Lanny Poffo
A statement released by WWE regarding the wrestlers passing said:
He was the son of Angelo Poffo and younger brother of WWE Superstar and Hall of Famer “Macho Man” Randy Savage.

He never reached the heights that his older brother did, Poffo had a style that was unique to him alone.
He joined the WWE (then WWF) with his brother in 1985. “Leaping” Lanny quickly became recognized as one of the true first high-flyers in WWE. “Leaping” Lanny was always a high energy performer and became a fan favorite for read in own poetry off of frisbees and throwing them to the crowd. Unfortunately he never truly found his footing in the early years of his career.
In 1989 Poffo reinvented himself and debuted “The Genius”. After a series of small fueds he found himself managing Mr. Perfect and Poffo’s career reached new heights.

From 1995 to 1999 the wrestler was under contract with WCW. Despite having a contract for five years and receiving regular paychecks, WCW never booked him for a match. After a 6 year hiatus he returned to the ring on the independent circuit. Wrestling for multiple promotions through the years, his last match was in 2020.
