VICE and The Rock are teaming up with each other to televise another exciting pro wrestling documentary
It has been revealed that a new pro wrestling documentary called “tales from the territories” will start on VICE TV at 10pm Eastern Time on Tuesday, October 4th.
The series is being produced by the creators of the critically acclaimed “Dark Side Of The Ring” in Evan Husney and Jason Eisener aswell as The Rock’s own production company in Seven Bucks Productions.
The documentary will take viewers back to a time of what many fans and wrestlers consider to be the golden age of professional wrestling, when the sport was divided into many vibrant regional territories.
The trailer features pictures of stars such as The Fabulous Freebirds, Rocky Johnson, The Junkyard Dog, Jerry Lawler, The Von Erich’s, Hulk Hogan, Arn Anderson, Kamala and more. The trailer also featured snippets of interviews involving Abdullah The Butcher and Bret Hart.
Jim Ross revealed earlier this year on his podcast “Grillin Jr” that he had been involved in an episode of “tales from the territories” alongside Jake Roberts, Michael Hayes and Ted DiBiase where they looked back at the legendary Mid South territory which took in Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Arkansas and parts of Texas including Houston.
Eisener and Hussey have released a statement saying…
“We’re incredibly excited to expand the ‘Dark Side of the Ring’ series with this first-ever exploration of the hidden past of wrestling’s Wild West era, with a dream collaborator in Dwayne Johnson, who has such deep family roots in the history of the business, we can’t wait to showcase the fascinating stories of the pioneers who set the stage for wrestling’s worldwide pop culture dominance.”
Brian Gewirtz, vice president of creative production for Seven Bucks Productions released a statement saying…
“In many ways, the wrestling world is a family, they have great moments, tough times, and everything in-between, there’s a rich history of untold stories which we can’t wait to bring to life.” “Wrestling is embedded into Dwayne’s DNA and part of the brand ethos of our Seven Bucks Productions, so we are honored to showcase these sensational stories and to create a time-capsule of this legendary industry,” said Garcia. “Being able to honor and highlight the larger-than-life personas that jump-started the wrestling industry, through their first-hand accounts, is immensely special, and the type of storytelling we love to do here at Seven Bucks.”
