It has been announced for the first time ever on a main-event roster, the notorious cage match will be at WWE’s “Survivor Series WarGames”.
Survivor Series WasGames is slated for November 28th at TD Garden, in Boston. The WWE will discard the traditional Survivor Series layout, and replace it with two WarGames cage matches.
When Was WarGames Most Popular?
WarGames styled cage matches have popular for many years. This style matches were especially popular in the 80’s and 90’s. WCW and NWA had major succeses during this time with this style match.
But with large gap in time with out the WarGames match fans wanted it back. In 2017 Paul successfully relaunched the match at NXT TAKEOVER: WarGames.
With all of changes in WWE, fans have been asking for WarGames matches to be brought to main roster events.
In The Ringer’s exclusive interview with Paul Levesque, “Triple H”, it was learned that Suvivor Series WarGames will have two of the matches.
Paul Stated “We’ll have a men’s WarGames match and a women’s WarGames match. The tradition of the Survivor Series has ebbed and flowed and changed slightly over time, but this will be similar to that,” he continues with . “This will not be Raw versus SmackDown. It will be much more story-line driven. I still look at it as a traditional component to Survivor Series in there because it’s large teams of people competing. We just upped the ante a little bit with WarGames and made it evolve.”
In making this decision Paul took some time to reflect on some words Vince McMahon once told him.
Vince stated “One of the things that Vince used to always say is if you put yourself in the seats, you could never go wrong. Now, all fans have different points of view. All you gotta do is go online now and you’ll see every single person has a different point of view and they’re happy to express it. But I think if you go out there and you think, What would you wanna see? If you’re a fan and you just love what we do, what would you want to see?”
