Top 10 Reasons Why People Aren’t Watching Raw in 2021

Monday Nights used to be must see. Millions and millions around the globe used to tune in every Monday to see Raw, before talking about it with their peers the next day. But what happens when those millions become…..a million? Raw recently drew its lowest rating ever with a 1.4 on the 1st June 2021 episode, and a pathetic 1.1 on the final hour. But why? What caused this massive decline? Here, we explore 10 reasons why millions of people do not watch Raw in 2021.

    10.) Rematches, rematches and rematches.

Admittedly, Raw has relied on rematches for years now, but in 2021 rematches are more common than ever. How many times have we seen a rematch on Raw on the post PPV show? Rhea Ripley VS Asuka on the post-WrestleMania Raw is one that springs to mind. Or what about Shelton Benjamin VS Cedric Alexander? Even Drew McIntyre vs Bobby Lashley, which has dragged on for ages now as the two are set to collide at Hell in a cell. While rematches are not as big of a factor as the following reasons are, it is still a complaint that many WWE fans have about the flagship show. Fans are expecting even more rematches with WWE’s recent talent cuts, so this issue shows no signs of ending.

    9.) A non-existent tag division

Go ahead – try to name every current WWE tag team on Raw. Probably didn’t take you too long, as Raw only has 4 established male tag teams (that being AJ and Omos, Kofi Kington and Xavier Woods, Mace and T-Bar, and The Viking Raiders). This is a huge problem for WWE, especially as their current rivals AEW show great appreciation for tag team wrestling. When you consider that not too long ago fans would tune into Raw to see fan favourites like The Hardy Boyz and The Shield, or even new teams like Legacy and The Usos, or even old teams reunited like The Dudley Boys and D-X, to now where only half of the 4 teams on Raw have been tagging for more than a year. If the WWE wants to retain more viewers, they need to put more of an emphasis on tag team wrestling and put presitge back onto the championships, instead of leaving AJ and Omos off TV for weeks which leads us into our next reason.
