AEW Women’s Interim Champion Toni Storm has recently come out explaining that she is not happy with the ‘Interim’ label placed on her.
Toni Storm won the Interim title at the All Out PPV after Thunder Rosa had to relinquish her title due to injury. Toni Storm defeated Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter and Hikaru Shida in a Four-Way Match. It is unknown how long Thunder Rosa will be on the shelf for at this current time.
WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR TONI STORM?
Toni Storm recently spoke to Bleacher Report about being labelled Interim Champion as well as her role in AEW and a potential future unification showdown with Thunder Rosa. Toni Storm said:
“I guess my first thing would be to beat Thunder Rosa and stop this interim nonsense. That’s kind of what’s been bothering me. I think that’s been bothering a lot of people because she’s still calling herself the AEW Women’s World Champion, and I’m the one here every week doing the work. Right now. I guess it’s about being a good champion, being a strong champion. That’s what I’m up against every day. I’m working harder than I ever had in my entire career. The time is now. I look at every week as just an opportunity to prove myself. I love giving it my all, and who knows where we go from here? But all I know is I’m gonna continue to work hard.”
As previously mentioned it is unknown at this point when Thunder Rosa is due to return from her injury layoff. Should Toni Storm still be the Interim Champion when Thunder returns then Storm may have a shot at redemption. Toni Storm and Thunder previously faced off earlier this year at AEW X NJPW: Forbidden Door. Toni was unsuccessful on that occasion but who knows what the outcome will be if they have the chance to face each other again.
