After discussing great tag teams with some friends, I had a possible controversial idea of creating a list of the 10-Best Tag Teams of All Time. Now, narrowing down this list to only 10 tag teams was really an insane undertaking because there have been so many great teams over the years.
I had to make a lot of tough choices with the list to narrow it down to a final 10 and I tried to be well rounded and impartial with the listings including teams from multiple promotions and generations. Although, you may not agree with the order or the teams on this list or you may think I should have included other teams; that is ok because again this is subjective opinion.
I only considered teams that were around for a consistent period of time, and they had to have held a major tag team championship at least once. I did not consider teams such as the New Day or the Freebirds, because when you have a situation where the team can switch out members to me that makes it more a stable than an actual tag team to me.
I focused on what they did as a team: tag title reigns, feuds, matches, impact on the company and/or industry and legendary status were all heavily considered. Star ratings from a certain newsletter were not factored in because this newsletter tends to skew biased ratings to a certain team, and I wanted to be as impartial as I could be.
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A SUBJECTIVE LIST AND IS STRICTLY MY PERSONAL OPINION AND I’M MAKING NO CLAIMS OF THIS BEING SOME DEFINITIVE LIST OR ANY OFFICIAL WRESTLING REPUBLIC LIST.
10) The Steiner Brothers
The recently inducted WWE HOFamers, Rick and Scott Steiner, were without question one of the toughest legitimate teams of all time. Both in and out of the ring, the Steiner Brothers were not individuals that you ever wanted to get on the bad side of. The real-life brothers tore through any and all teams that dared to stand across the ring from them. During their illustrious career as a team, they held 16 tag team championships including two WWF Tag Title reigns and seven WCW Tag Title reigns. A large portion of their careers were as a team and over their careers they were in matches and feuds with top teams on the biggest stages and were successful.
