The Miz kept his promises and showed up to Friday Night SmackDown to cost LA Knight his match and a shot at the United States Championship.
The Grayson Waller Effect opens up the August 18th edition of Friday Night SmackDown. Grayson Waller hosted Santos Escobar and the new United States Champion Rey Mysterio.
Waller attempts to cause animosity between Mysterio and Escobar, but is quickly shut down.
Austin Theory then comes out to the ring and congratulates Mysterio as well as throwing a little jab, saying it’s no father of the year award.
Theory demands Adma Pearce come to the ring to fix things, but Pearce comes out to say, “nobody wants to hear you complain tonight”.
LA Knight quickly comes out to ramp as well. Knight congratulates Mysterio for winning his title. Then went on to say, “no matter who is Champion it is coming to him.”
It was suggested for LA Knight and Austin Theory to have a match and whoever would win will earn a shot at the United States Championship Title down the line.
Adam Pearce made it official after considering and hearing the crowd’s reaction. Miz came out during the match and joined the commentary team.
This match was high energy and had fans on the edge of their seats. During the match Miz’s berating gets the best of LA Knight and distracts him.
Austin Theory takes advantage of the distraction and takes out Knight. Knight would take control back in the match, but again the Miz would interfere.
After Knight chased the Miz around the ring they ended up back in the ring. Once Knight got the Miz over the top rope and out of the ring, Theory struck.
Theory would roll Knight up and win via pinfall with a handful of tights. Austin Theory will now have a chance at Rey Mysterio’s United States Championship Title.
