Things are heating up as AEW is getting closer to finding a challenger for MJF’s AEW World Heavyweight Championship Title.
The AEW Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Tournament was announced in late August. The winner of the tournament will challenge MJF for his championship title.
The first matches took place on the September 6th edition of AEW Dynamite. Rodrick Strong would defeat Trent Berretta and Darby Allin would defeat Nick Wayne.
On The September 8th edition of AEW Rampage there are two more AEW superstars that are moving forward in the tournament.
Penta El Zero Miedo would go one on one with Jay Lethal. There were many points in the match where Jeff and Karen Jarrett, Sonjay Dutt, and Satnam Singh would attempt to interfere in the match.
Even with their interference Jay Lethal would still lose to Penta El Zero. Later that night Samoa Joe would defeat Jeff Hardy by submission.
Oeba El Zero will face Samoa Joe in a semifinals match on the September 9th edition of AEW Collision.
Another semi finals match will be taking place also on the September 9th edition of AEW Collision. Darby Allin will face Roderick Strong.
The winner of both semi final matches will go head to head on the September 13th edition of AEW Dynamite. This will be the final match in the AEW Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Tournament.
The winner of the final match will challenge MJF for his AEW World Heavyweight Championship title at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam.
AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam will take place on September 20th in New York. Will MJF be ready to take on the challenger?
