A week after getting married, Tay Conti will now be called Tay Melo in AEW.
Sammy Guevara and his girlfriend Tay Conti tied the not last week in a ceremony attended by multiple AEW wrestlers. This comes two months after the pair announced their engagement in June.
They are currently set to face Dante Martin and Skye Blue for the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championships is Friday on Rampage. The couple originally won the titles at this year’s TripleMania XXX: Monteray, where they beat three other tag teams.
From the promotional graphics, it seems Conti has changed her last name in AEW, but not to Guevarra after her husband. Going forward it seems she will now be going by her real name, Tay Melo.
The two became heels about a month ago when Sammy and Tay came to the aid of Chris Jericho and the Jericho Appreciation Society. It made sense as they had lost favor with the fans who did not like their intimacy on screen.
Their ire also stemmed from rumors that Sammy’s previous engagement with longtime girlfriend Pamella Nizio had ended by Sammy having an affair with Tay. Fans will remember when Sammy proposed to Pam in the ring in August 2021.
Four months later, the two announced that they had ended their relationship. Ironically, Sammy and Tay’s wedding comes a year after Sammy’s proposal to Pam.
As of this writing, Sammy and Tay are feuding with Eddie Kingston and Ruby Soho. Eddie recently ended his longstanding feud with Chris Jericho, but it seems Sammy has picked it up.
