]]> As January 23rd gets closer, The WRLD On GCW gets more and more exciting. Game Changer Wrestling has made several announcements about the upcoming pay-per-view: Ruby Soho vs Allie Katch and Joey Janela vs Matt Cardona join the card. The WRLD On GCW has sold out the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. The WRLD On GCW will air on traditional cable pay-per-view as well as on FITE.

Definitely the most exciting announcement: Moxley is going back to the sacred circle after 2 and a half months. On January 23rd, he will have his return defending his GCW World Champions against his long-time friend Homicide.

This will be an incredible start to the year, and GCW promoter, Brett Lauderdale says there will be more like this to come this year: “We’re proud to kick off the new year with these shows, including The WRLD on GCW at the Hammerstein, the biggest event we’ve done yet. We’ve got notoriety, the best fans, and FITE on our side, and we’re going to keep adding more as we move through the year going to awesome venues like this giving people the authenticity they want from wrestling.”

So far the event will feature:

  • GCW World Championship: Jon Moxley (c) vs. Homicide
  • ROH World Championship: Jonathan Gresham (c) vs. Blake Christian
  • Team Gringo (Gringo Loco, Arez, and Demonic Flamita) vs. Team Bandido (Bandido, Laredo Kid, and ASF)
  • Appearance by Eddie Kingston
  • Joey Janela vs Matt Cardona
  • Ruby Soho vs. Allie Katch

]]> Former AEW wrestler Big Swole left the company in late November after she and Tony Khan mutually agreed not to renew her contract with the company. It was initially rumored that a lack of action in using her character was part of her decision to leave. However, recently, she released a statement on New Year’s Eve claiming that a lack of diversity in AEW was part of her reasoning. Tony Khan, who has become more outspoken over the past year, commented that Swole did not re-sign with the company because he did not see her as being a good wrestler. He also attacked her statement on diversity by pointing out several athletes of color in the TBS Championship Tournament, such as Nyla Rose and Jade Cargill.
Lio Rush quickly took to Twitter in a series of tweets, calling out Khan for his response and demanding he apologize to Swole. However, the next day on January 1, Rush released a statement regarding a conversation he had with Tony Khan about the matter. You can view his statement below:

Rush has always been known for being outspoken about his belief. He was said to have butted heads with multiple producers while in WWE, thus contributing to his departure as part of the talent releases WWE has made over the past two years. He currently serves in both a performing and managerial role on AEW television.
