GOOD Judgement Day confronts the LWO:

Rey Mysterio and the LWO started out in the ring and addressed the people in Spanish. As Rey thanked the crowd, Dominik Mysterio came to the ring with Rhea Ripley and Finn Balor. As Dom called out Rey’s parenting skills, his father asked for a Wrestlemania re-match. Rhea Ripley countered by offering a mixed-tag match.

GOOD Gallows and Anderson vs the Viking Raiders:

Gallows dropped Ivar with a big boot but Karl Anderson couldn’t make the pin. Later, Gallows landed a sit-down powerbomb but Erik kicked out. A key moment came when Valhalla tried to interfere, prompting an attack from Michin. This distracted Ivar and allowed the OC to pick up the win via the Magic Killer.

Karrion Kross warns Shinsuke Nakamura of what is to come.

Solo Sikoa told the Usos they better do their part during tomorrow’s match.

ABOVE AVERAGE The Street Profits vs Imperium:

Giovanni Vinci was flying high from the start, a cross body from the turnbuckle and a moonsault to Montez Ford. This was part of the domination Imperium showed at the beginning of the match. However, Ford eventually tagged in Angelo Dawkins and turned the match around. The Street Profits won with a big frog splash from Ford.

GREAT Cody Rhodes:

Quoting his mentor, Arn Anderson, Rhodes acknowledged Brock Lesnar as a gatekeeper to superstardom in WWE. He also said that he will beat the answer out of Brock Lesnar as to why Lesnar attacked him. He ended with a passionate cry that he will take down the Beast and get the keys to his kingdom.

GOOD Shinsuke Nakamura vs Karrion Kross w/Scarlett:

Kross took an early advantage, throwing Nakamura into the ring corner outside the ring. Later, Nakamura navigated different submission holds which greatly weakened Kross. He tried to finish Karrion Kross with a Kinshasa but Kross countered with a lariat. After countering a move by Kross, Shinsuke Nakamura finally converted a Kinshasa to pick up the win.

Baron Corbin and Cameron Grimes trash-talked each other about their draft status. Adam Pearce scheduled a match for them next week.

GOOD Rey Mysterio and Zelina Vega vs Dominik Mysterio and Rhea Ripley:

Vega took advantage early on as she and Rey had Dom set up for a 619. However, Rhea Ripley hit Vega with a big boot before she landed the 619. Dominik tried to hit his dad the Three Amigos, but Rey Mysterio put him in an inside cradle to win the match. After the match, Dom was joined by Finn Balor and Damian Priest in an assault on Rey Mysterio. As the attack was about to get really bad, Bad Buddy’s music hit as the Puerto Rican native came to the ring accompanied by the rest of the LWO. He and Priest stared each other down as the show came to a close.

Results: Rey Mysterio and Zelina Vega

Matt Cookson WR Star Rating – 3.25 Stars

Overall…

This was a good episode of SmackDown. The crowd was absolutely on fire the entire, helped by appearances from Bad Bunny and Zelina Vega, both with at least family ties to Puerto Rico. The mixed tag match was the highlight of the night with good action and solid storytelling in the form of hyping a number of storylines. The lowlight was the Imperium vs Street Profits match, only because the match was short and there wasn’t much story there.

The matches were good but none reached the level of great or above. The show structure was good, as it led up to the main event, but not everything was great and this slowed down the show. A few storylines were advanced but a few matches happened without a story to them. Production was good but not really a unique theme to the episode.

GOOD Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn:

Addressing the uncertainty that comes with the WWE Draft, Owens and Zayn know for sure that they will be ready to defend the titles. Owens specifically mentioned the Usos wanting a rematch, who felt their ears burning and made their entrance. The Usos told the champions they were as dangerous as ever and that Zayn will betray KO like how he betrayed the Bloodline. As the Usos and Solo Siko surrounded the ring, Matt Riddle came to the aid of the undisputed tag team champions.

Adam Pearce told a referee it will be Solo Sikoa and Matt Riddle in tonight’s main event.

GOOD Xavier Woods vs LA Knight:

With a hot crowd right off the bat, Xavier Woods was in control with some high-flying offense. While he gained momentum heading into the commercial break, LA Knight looked frustrated after Woods kicked out of a neck breaker. Balanced on the top rope, LA Knight got double-stomped by Woods. Knight was then kicked out of a leg drop. The finish came after Knight tried to pin Woods by grabbing the shorts for leverage but the ref saw it. What the ref didn’t see was Xavier Woods doing the same thing to pick up the win.

Results: Xavier Woods by Pinfall via Rollup

Matt Cookson WR Star Rating – 3.25 Stars

After interrupting Imperium with his trombone, Gunther offered Xavier Woods a title match.

GREAT Damian Priest vs Santos Escobar:

Damian Priest offered no apology for his assault on Bad Bunny. The LWO responded by attacking Judgment Day before the match started. Once the match got started, Priest dropped Escobar with a well-placed punch outside the ring. Santos Escobar did get in some offense but Priest quickly took back control. Later, Escobar nearly got the pinfall victory after a moonsault but Priest kicked out. Chaos ensued when Judgement Day interfered in the match leading to a brawl with the LWO. While Zelena Vega and co got in their licks, Priest hit Escobar with South of Heaven to pick up the win. After the match, Rey Mysterio saved the LWO from further damage.

Results: Damian Priest by Pinfall via South of Heaven

Solo SIkoa assured Paul Heyman and the Usos he’s got his match with Riddle under control.

ABOVE AVERAGE Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez:

Morgan and Rodriguez started by hyping each other up before they were interrupted by Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green. After whining about their lack of opportunity, the champions offered Deville and Green a title match. Rodriguez and Morgan then attacked the challengers, chasing them out of the ring.

Matt Cookson WR Star Rating – 2.75 Stars

ABOVE AVERAGE Shinsuke Nakamura vs Madcap Moss (w/Emma):

Madcap Moss came out with his hair on fire and had Nakamura reeling. However, Nakamura quickly battled back and finished off Moss with a Kinshasa. After the match, Emma goaded Moss to attack Nakamura but the king of strong style fought it off.

Results: Shinsuke Nakamura by Pinfall via Kinshasa

Matt Cookson WR Star Rating – 2.75 Stars

The Viking Raiders attacked Ricochet and Braun Strowman backstage.

GREAT Matt Riddle (w/Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens) vs Solo Sikoa (w/the Usos and Paul Heyman):

Before the match started, Paul Heyman announced the Usos will have a chance Riddle went the submission route early on, weakening the enforcer with various holds including a sleeper hold and an arm bar. The Usos attempted to interfere, leading to the referee ejecting them along with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. This didn’t stop the Usos from wandering back into the arena where they promptly fought with the tag team champions. This distracted Riddle, opening the door for Sikoa to finish him off with a Samoan Spike. Sikoa mauled Riddle after the match and put him through the announcer’s table.

Results: Solo Sikoa by Pinfall via Samoan Spike

Matt Cookson WR Star Rating – 3.5 Stars

Overall…

This was a decent episode of Friday Night SmackDown that featured some decent matches. The highlight of the night was the match between Santos Escobar because the match was good and further developed the feud between Judgement Day and the Latino World Order. While it’s great to have Shinsuke back, the match itself wasn’t anything special, and it therefore the lowlight.

The match score loses points because a few of the matches were average and none reached the level of amazing. Show structure was good but some of the above average segments slowed it down. The atmosphere was good but not amazing. Storytelling was good but some of the matches did not have a ton of story to them. Production level was high but there wasn’t a theme that made this episode stand out.

GOOD the Judgement Day vs AJ Styles and Rey Mysterio:

The Judgement opened the show by trash-talking Edge, Rey Mysterio, and AJ Styles. Once the match got started, Balor elicited some boos when he hit Mysterio with the Three Amigos. Interference from Rhea Ripley proved crucial, as she pulled Rey Mysterio off the ring apron and clotheslined him. Finn Balor hit AJ Styles with a Coup de Grace for the win. Post-match, AJ Styles argued with Rey Mysterio, and Styles was beaten further by Judgement Day.

The show ended with Bayley and the rest of Damage Control standing on the sides of a ladder holding the tag belts and the Raw Women’s Title.

Results: Iyo Sky by Pinfall via Over the Moonsault

Matt Cookson WR Star Rating – 3 Stars

Overall…

This was a subpar episode of Monday Night Raw. We are less than a week out from Extreme Rules, so the lack of quality matches wasn’t particularly shocking. The Rollins-Riddle promo was the highlight of the night, as both men got personal in their promos and added to the realness of the feud. The lowlight of the show was the Candace LeRae-Dakota Kai match. The action wasn’t anything special and there wasn’t much story there, although we did get another White Rabbit reference. The main event was good but the imagery of Damage Control on the ladder builds up to the pay-pay-view. While the action wasn’t the best, the drama continues to build for matches between Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle in the men’s division as well as between Bayley and Bianca Belair on the women’s side. The show loses points for lacking good matches, which also hurts the rating for the show structure and atmosphere.

The post “Rollins and Riddle Bring the Heat Ahead of Extreme Rules” – WWE Raw Review October 3rd, 2022 appeared first on Wrestling Republic.

Judgement Day’s Rhea Ripley has opened up about the differences between working under Triple H and Vince McMahon on Raw. Since Vince’s retirement, Triple H has been elevated to Head of Creative and Chief Content Officer, letting him remold WWE.

Since he has taken over, Raw and SmackDown have seen a significant rise in ratings and a clearer vision. When discussing the changes, Rhea Ripley let it be known that she feels more at home under Triple H’s guidance.

“I feel like it’s definitely family-ish,” Ripley said on “Gorilla Position.” “I feel like it’s NXT for me, personally. I don’t know how other people feel, but for me, it feels like that NXT environment, which I loved so much while being there. I have all my friends back, the ones that have moved up and the ones that have come back.”

Under Triple H’s guidance, Rhea became the NXT UK and NXT Women’s Champion, being the first to win both. When she switched from NXT UK, she was quickly put in a position to become the top female competitor in NXT.

Her rise after moving to the main roster was no different as she quickly entered title contention. So far, Rhea Ripley has won the Raw Women’s Championship and the Women’s Tag Team Championship.

During her time working under Vince McMahon, Rhea Ripley stated that she did not feel as confident as she does now. She felt that Vince never could gauge if she was over or not, but Hunter fully believes in her.

“It feels so warm, and I feel more comfortable and confident in myself in a way, because I know that Triple H knows exactly who I am because he helped build me into the Rhea Ripley that you see today,” Ripley said. “So I know that I don’t have to really fight or struggle to express myself and show everyone exactly who I am, because he already knows, in a way.” (WrestlingInc.com)

What is Rhea up to now?

As part of Judgement Day, the group recently welcomed Dominick Mysterio as part of the group after he betrayed his father. At Clash at the Castle, Dominick attacked both Edge and Rey Mysterio after their victory over the heels.

It was a shocking turn, but one that was praised amongst fans and critics who felt the change was necessary. Rhea Ripley hasn’t wrestled in some time now since she was taken out of action with an apparent brain injury.

It’s unknown when she will get back into action, but when she does she will likely continue her dominant ways.

The post Rhea Ripley Describes The Feel Of WWE Changing Since Triple H Took Over appeared first on Wrestling Republic.

Balor was guest on July 30th episode of Peter Rosenberg’s Cheap Heat podcast. He discussed about various topics including future of Judgement Day, his ring gear change, a possible return of the Demon King gimmick and his relationship with Triple H and Vince McMahon.

When asked about whether he’s looking forward to wrestling at ‘Clash At The Castle’ event which would be first UK event at such a large scale since his childhood, Finn spoke of how he hasn’t wrestled on such big events often. He expressed his disappointment about being left off the Wrestlemania card even when the show was two nights.

“I think last year I was involved in Mania and I’ll be honest up, deeply hurt, deeply hurt, the fact that, you know, I show up for every TV, every house, show every overseas tour, you know, every media appearance, and then to be left off two nights of WrestleMania, that hurt. So I definitely want to be involved in Clash of the Castle. I think it’s best, you know. I Only found out about SummerSlam on Monday, so like there’s no real, you know, hey you’re going to be in this match in three months or you’re going to be in this match in six weeks. It’s literally, you find out the week before sometimes. Sometimes, you guys find out before I do because you see it on the TV and I’m in the locker room. Absolutely, I want to be involved in whatever way I can. To have a singles match would be incredible. Having spent six years at the start of my career in the United Kingdom, to get to go back and wrestle in a stadium would be incredible.”

The prince hasn’t wrestled at the “showcase of immortals” since Wrestlemania 34 in 2018 where he faced Rollins and The Miz in a triple-threat match for intercontinental championship. This year Finn was US Champion but still didn’t make it to main show. He instead wrestled on smackdown in Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal where he was last man eliminated. He was later pinned by Austin Theory on the same night.

This is not the first time that Balor has mentioned his Wrestlemania absence. He had previously revealed how he felt sad not to be featured on show after Wrestlemania 37.

Balor didn’t give anything when asked whom he would like to face at the show, saying it’s not in his control. Though Balor said that he would love to have a singles match with Rey Mysterio. While Balor in excited, it will be interesting to see what plan company has for him.

The post Finn Balor Reveals He Was Hurt After WWE Left Him Off Wrestlemania Card appeared first on Wrestling Republic.

In the first Raw of the post-Vince McMahon era, the show celebrated the 20th anniversary of Rey Mysterio’s career. The celebration went on throughout the night with a party being held backstage in the veteran’s honor.

The festivities started with Rey and Dominik getting a win over Finn Balor and Damien Preist of Judgement Day. Unhappy with the result of their match, the duo dispatched Rhea Ripley to Rey’s party to stir up trouble.

The heel arrived in a classic Eddie Gurrerro shirt, which reads “I’m Your Papi” before the party guests. The former Raw Women’s champion’s attempt to cause a scene was countered by Aaliyah, Rey’s daughter.

Fans on social media were not lost on the confrontation’s significance as they immediately began talking about the segment. For those who don’t remember, Aaliyah was once involved in a romantic angle with Rhea’s current boyfriend Buddy Matthews (Murphy).

Matthews was with Seth Rollins as his disciple while he spent most of 2020 feuding with the Mysterio’s. Aaliyah eventually got involved with Murphy coming to her aid before the two formed a kayfabe relationship.

Fast forward, and Murphy would be terminated as part of WWE’s “budget cut” releases along with many other shocking names. He’s currently in AEW as part of the House of Black stable with Malakai Black, Brody King, and Julia Hart.

Despite not being in the same company, Ripley and Matthews were reported to be dating a couple of months ago. Matthews got in on the fun on Twitter saying, “I’ll let them fight for my custody in a ladder match!”

This references the infamous match between Rey and Eddie Guerrero where they fought for custody of Dominik in a ladder match. Triple H, who’s now in charge of creative, likely saw the connection between the women and knew fans would too.

For now, the Mysterios will continue to feud with Judgement Day, although it’s unclear if Aaliyah’s involvement will continue. Buddy Matthews, on the other hand, may compete for championship gold soon with House of Black.

Last night on Dynamite the Trios Tag Team Championships were introduced months after Tony Khan had had the belts made. A tournament will crown AEW’s first trio’s tag champions, and House of Black will more than likely be involved.

The post Buddy Matthews Wants Rhea Ripley & Aaliyah Mysterio To Fight For His Custody appeared first on Wrestling Republic.

Liv Morgan has been a significant feature within the Raw women’s division in the past few months. She had a match for the Women’s Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania with Rhea Ripley as her partner.

Their union would dissolve soon after, but Liv has since stayed in the spotlight through feuding with Judgement Day. The Hell in a Cell premium live event saw her team with Finn Balor and AJ Styles against the heels.

Unfortunately, Judgement Day would seize victory, potentially putting an end to the rivalry between the two groups, especially given Monday’s events. Although Liv has been one of the more prominently featured women, one legend doesn’t care much for her work.

Jim Cornette compared Liv to Rhea Ripley on the latest episode of Jim Cornette Experience and praised Rhea’s skills. He doesn’t like Morgan and feels Rhea has carried her through the bulk of their matches together.

“They’ve been fighting every week. Liv Morgan does not grow on me. She’s too girly to be a wrestler. Rhea Ripley has to, not only bend over backward, but has to do the limbo to make it believable that Liv Morgan is hanging in there with her, right?” Cornette said.

“When Rhea and Liv got in there, again, Ripley is everything I like about women’s wrestling and Morgan is the opposite. She’s too small, her sh*t it’s awkward, she’s trying to do sh*t to bigger people and they’re trying to let her, it doesn’t come across. I don’t… she’s too pretty… I just don’t see it,” he stated. (h/t Sportster.com)

It’s unfortunate Cornette thinks so negatively about Liv, but not surprising as he’s often critical regarding WWE’s current product. While he may not like Morgan’s work, fans have been strongly behind her for a long time now.

This is why WWE has pushed Liv the way they have this year, starting with a title program against Becky Lynch. The two wrestled in some stellar matches as part of their feud, but Becky would always walk away as champion.

Even if Liv is done with Rhea and Judgement Day, WWE will likely keep her as a focal point. With Money in the Bank being the next big event, Liv will probably be in the women’s ladder match.

Given the work she’s put in, this could be her year as she would be a strong favorite to win.

It’s become a recurring habit in recent months for main roster stars to appear in NXT 2.0 to boost ratings. Stars like AJ Styles, The Miz, Natalya, and The Viking Raiders appeared on the show to wrestle younger stars.

Based on a cryptic tweet, Rhea Ripley could be the next star to arrive on the rainbow brand. This past Sunday, the newest Judgement Day member tweeted “Tuesday” with an hourglass emoji, implying an appearance on NXT.

Rhea recently joined Edges Judgement Day faction at WWE WrestleMania Backlash when she helped him beat AJ Styles. This came a few weeks after she turned on her Liv Morgan to dissolve their tag-team alliance.

If she is on her way to NXT, it’s likely in search of an opponent to destroy before Hell in a Cell. However, she could be looking to recruit for Judgement Day as Edge has been teasing a new member on Twitter.

It has been revealed that Harland was supposed to join the faction before he was released for lack of in-ring improvement. This may not have ruled out other candidates from the Tuesday show, and Rhea may meet them tonight.

Judgement Day will face AJ Styles, Finn Balor, and Liv Morgan in mixed tag action at Hell in a Cell. Given that In Your House and the premium live event are a day apart, Rhea may not appear at the former.

Whatever she may have planned in NXT, all eyes will be on her, if she does indeed appear tonight.

The post Rhea Ripley Teases Her Return To NXT In A Cryptic Tweet appeared first on Wrestling Republic.

Former WWE Star Parker Boudreaux (known as Harland during his WWE tenure) was one of the unfortunate people to be let go by the WWE in its last round of cuts, but it seems he has his eyes set on his next career move by teasing working with Hip-Hop Superstar Drake.

Parker was let go back towards the end of April after it had also been announced that fellow NXT 2.0 stars Dakota Kai and Malcolm Bivens were also released. Many were surprised at the release as Parker, the former football star was touted to become a superstar on the main roster with fans even comparing him to Brock Lesnar and even reports that Parker was going to join Edge’s stable Judgement Day along with Damien Priest and Rhea Ripley.

The release has not seemed to have deterred Parker at all as via his twitter account he posted the following at a potential collaboration with Drake and Drake’s label OVO:

It seems that Parker is no stranger to the Hip-Hop world as he has also been pictured with Hip-Hop superstars Rick Ross and had a friendship with Memphis rapper Young Dolph (sharing conversations the two had on social media) who unfortunately passed away earlier this year. So, it seems Parker is accustomed to be rubbing shoulders with some of Hip-Hops biggest stars.

Drake is one of the biggest selling artists in the world and has shown his affection for Wrestling and for the WWE as he has shown up numerous times to NBA Basketball matches featuring his favourite team the Toronto Raptors with WWE Titles.

This wouldn’t be the first time where the world of Wrestling and Hip-Hop music have collided as previously Rap stars such as The Migos have worked with Ric Flair and The Rock has worked with Wyclef Jean and Tech N9ne.

Drake and OVO have yet to comment on a potential collaboration with Parker Boudreaux.
