Matt Cardona and his wife Chelsea Green renewed their vows at Game Changer Wrestling’s Homecoming Part Two show, in what turned out to be a traditional professional wrestling wedding.

The wedding was interrupted by Blake Christian, Allie Katch and eventually his long-time rival, Nick Gage. Additionally also featured appearances from Maki Itoh, Jimmy Lloyd and former Tough Enough winner, Maven.

This comes just a year after Matt Cardona defeated Nick Gage to win the GCW Championship, at last years Homecoming weekend.

Blake Christian was the first wedding crasher. This followed Christian’s recent GCW heel turn after fans turned on him the night before. Additionally, Matt Cardona recently called Blake Christian an ‘unsafe worker’ on Twitter. After all of this, it seemed like he arrived at the wedding to cause chaos, but surprisingly he quickly made up with Cardona.

Next up, Allie Katch crashed the wedding, gifting Cardona hair growth formula. This was much to the frustration of the Cardona’s.

Finally, as all seemed over and done with, Nick Gage made his triumphant arrival and attacked his former rival. Gage entered the ring and took out Cardona’s father. He then proceeded to cut Matt Cardona’s head open, with his signature pizza cutter.

Allie Katch then took out Chelsea Green, leaving the happily remarried couple, covered in cake and blood, to celebrate their special day.

What’s Next For Matt Cardona and Nick Gage?

While the future of the rivalry between Gage and Cardona remains in question, Gage will soon be taking on AEW’s Jon Moxley.

Gage will put his career on the line, as he attempts to regain the GCW Championship. The date of the encounter has yet to be announced.

Nick Gage has previously held the championship twice, for a total of 800 days.

The post Nick Gage Crashes Matt Cardona And Chelsea Green’s Wedding At GCW Homecoming appeared first on Wrestling Republic.

Last night former WWE star Trey Baxter, who is now known as ‘Blake Christian’ faced Tony Deppen at GCW Homecoming. However it was what happened after the match that left many fans questioning what they had just witnessed.

After his match against Deppen, Christian took the mic, where seemingly he was set to announce he had signed with AEW/ROH, so would no longer be a GCW regular. However before he was able to address this, he was cut off by loud boos from fans.

Despite this, Christian went on to say “I love you too. Is this about Matt Cardona? So this is what Roman Reigns feels like. Is this about Bron Breakker? Cora Jade?”.

Christian was addressing the news from earlier this week that his former girlfriend, Cora Jade, was now dating NXT Champion Bron Breakker.

The 25 year old then attempted to relax the fans, by leaving the ring and engaging with the audience. However this resulted in him sitting on the lap of a fan telling him to ‘Shut the f**k up‘.

As the promo continued, Christian eventually announced he was not going to be around GCW as much anymore. This did not quiet the fans down, with some cheering at his departure, seemingly having the opposite reaction to what he expected.

Why Did The Fans Turn On Blake Christian?

While it does remain a mystery why fans suddenly turned on the former WWE star, it could have to do with a new report. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful is reporting that Blake Christian has signed with AEW/ROH.

Despite the AEW Champion Jon Moxley being a GCW regular, AEW remains unpopular with the GCW fanbase. This seemingly stems from AEW signing many GCW talents. This means they appear less frequently on the product.

It could also be due to Matt Cardona recently claiming “He’s stiff. He’s an unsafe worker”. However no other wrestlers are yet to back up this claim.

This also isn’t the first time Blake Christian has left GCW. He left to join WWE in 2020, before being released in 2021.

GOOD Dante Leon Vs Drago Kid Vs Jimmy Lloyd Vs Shane Mercer Vs Gringo Loco Vs ASF Vs Axton Ray – Seven Way Scramble: This is your typical GCW Scramble with a lot of Lucha style moves and spots. Nothing looked bad or botched which can easily happen in a match of this style. There was one spot that wasn’t clean from Axton but he had a good recovery and got the moonsault onto his feet. Gorgeous Spanish Fly and rolling fireman’s carry from the top rope by Shane, Gringo and ASF. Fun way to start the show off.

Results: Gringo Loco By Pinfall Via Gringo Bomb (Electric Chair Spinning Powerbomb off the middle Rope.)

Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 3.25 Stars

GOOD Jordan Oliver Vs Masha Slamovich: Match started off pretty technical and on the ground, before Jordan took control going a lot faster and more athletic before Jordan started to work on the leg of Masha. With Masha getting control and offense the crowd definitely was getting behind her. I enjoyed Masha using the hair of Jordan to do multiple snapmares. Nice top rope dive to the outside and a nice brainbuster from Masha. The two trade strikes before Jordan throws her into the corner and gives a nice combo of offense. Masha has a good nearfall. Masha gets a nice combination of offense shortly after. Jordan is hellbent on putting the boston crab on Masha, failing a couple times before finally getting it, Masha getting a rope break. Masha gets up getting the better of the exchange on the apron that concluded with a japanese cyclone suplex. Jordan kicks out before the two are having a final exchange of offense before Jordan gets a great looking suplex powerbomb for the victory.

Results: Jordan Oliver By Pinfall Via Orange Crush (Suplex Powerbomb)

Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 3.25 Stars

AVERAGE ACH Vs Alex Zayne: I want to give the props the ACH and Alex Zayne, they were having a solid and entertaining match but there was a point in time where the match went to s**t. There was a big botch that resulting in those infamous chants of “you f**ked up” and there was a pinfall that involved another big botch. Alex Zayne didn’t deliver the finish the best either so it was a solid match that truly fell apart in the last quarter of the match.

Results: Alex Zayne By Pinfall Via Shooting Star Knees.

Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 2.75 Stars

GOOD Bussy, Effy and Allie Katch and Grim Reefer Vs Second Gear Crew, Mance Warner and Matthew Justice and Aj Gray: This match originally was a triple threat tag, with the briscoes but Aj Gray entered and said this is Second Gear Crew Vs Bussy. Allie Katch gets on the mic and says they got people wanting to be a part of Bussy. In comes GCW’s resident Stoner Grim Reefer. This match is no longer for the Tag Team Championships. Remember I said Reefer was the stone, once Second Gear Crew were tossed out of the ring he pulled out a blunt and the champions joined him in a puff puff pass exchange. Overall most tag matches from GCW are done in a street fight like manner but also a Lucha style type match. This one had two always in the ring and it was in minor car crash mode. Enjoyable spots with chairs and the doors and solid offensive moves that were done throughout the match. I enjoyed the tower of doom spot that was done through a door though. Enjoyable match that didn’t have anything wrong with the match itself. Good finish as well.

Results: Matthew Justice of Second Gear Crew by Pinfall via Doomsday Clothesline on Grim Reefer

Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 3.25 Stars

AMAZING Biff Busick Vs Blake Christian: This was a really solid match that had Biff and Blake providing an all out banger. This was a really hard hitting match, a lot of good chops and hard strikes. The two went the distance with the crowd singing Biff’s music for the majority of the match. This match felt like a big and awesome match and it truly was. One of the ones you can say is one of the matches of the night. After the match Blake Christian says he was glad to have the match in GCW instead of WWE, and then lists off his post match call out including Alex Shelley, Alex Shelley’s Japanese Friend Kushida, the one who has what Blake wants Jon Moxley and Johnny F**king Gargano. I do agree with Blake about the match being in GCW let it be a better match between him and Biff. And I am curious to see what matches happen on Blake’s wishlist.

Results: Blake Christian By Pinfall Via Curb Stomp.

Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 4.00 Stars.

GREAT Joey Janela Vs Mike Bailey: GCW really said let’s two bangers back to back. Mike and Janela have an all out war with each other. I loved the brawl spilling to the merch tables and the crazy table spot where Joey fell through the table but the frame of it stayed intact. There were a lot of near falls and moves for the sake of moves closer to the end but overall this was another really solid match. After the match, Bailey bowed to Joey before offering his hand in respect, Joey flipped Mike off before leaving to the back.

Results: Mike Bailey By Pinfall Via The Flamingo (Leg capture Electric Chair like Driver)

Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 3.75 Stars

GREAT Charles Mason Addresses the GCW Fans: After Janela Vs Bailey, Emil Jay, the ring announcer is talking about the next Atlantic city dates, Tournament Of Survival 7 and Cage Of Survival June 4th and 5th. Charles Mason’s theme hits as he promised he was going to attend. Before Charles could even talk the crowd is telling him to “Shut the f**k up”. Charles says the room smells like poverty and that comes from the audience. The crowd continues to chant to try and shut Charles. Charles says the company is filled with drug addicts, life-long criminals and deathmatch wrestlers. Claiming they have to bleed to provide for their family. The crowd starts chanting MDK for Nick Gage, and Charles says Nick Gage is the entree and he wants the appetizer. Charles says he want to take Spyder Nate Webb out of GCW. Nate Webb comes out to the ring and attacks Charles from behind. Charles pokes Nate in the eye before using his belt to choke Nate out. Standing tall over Nate Webb.

Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 3.50 Stars

GOOD Akira Vs Hoodfoot – GCW Tournament Of Survival Qualifier: GCW deathmatch wrestling, two guys using plenty of things to make each other bleed. Chopping each other with Gusset Plates, light tubes, ladders, a weed whacker and a chain. Your feelings towards this match go hand in hand with how you feel about deathmatch wrestling. This was a solid deathmatch for those who do enjoy this style. I am on the fence, sometimes it’s too much, sometimes it’s just good enough.

Results: Hoodfoot Qualifies By Pinfall via Clothesline with a chain around his fist.

Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 3.00 Stars

SQUASH Slade Vs Sawyer Wreck – GCW Tournament Of Survival Qualifier: This match was quite the short car crash resulting in them both as bloody as Hoodfoot and Akira were by the end of their match. Honestly aside from them both being busted open so fast this match didn’t do too much. It was a short car crash but close to a dud. Outside of Slade taking a couple of bumps onto a aluminum can board and into some tubes this match was too short and still squash-like. This match won’t be rated.

Results: Slade Qualifies By Submission Via Sleeper Hold.

GREAT Cole Radrick Vs John Wayne Murdoch – GCW Ultraviolent Championship: This match was the second deathmatch for Cole Radrick in Atlantic City venue, and it was on par with his stand out match in February. Overall this match was a little limited in terms of what all they used. The Hoodfoot and Akira match had quite a bit more weaponry. This match was slightly better and a little more entertaining than that match as well. After the match John Wayne Murdoch gets the crowd behind him, giving his Tournament of Survival spot to Radrick. He also goes on to say that at Cage Of Survival he will be facing Alex Colon for the last time and as champion promised more deathmatch wrestling in GCW. Alex Colon and John Wayne Murdoch seem to be going through a double turn.

Results: John Wayne Murdoch Retains By Pinfall Via Spinning Top Rope Brainbuster.

Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 3.50 Stars

Overall GCW had a solid show that involved two sections, the wrestling and the deathmatch wrestling. Both sections had their highs and great moments with some alright moments. If you weren’t a fan of Deathmatches you could leave early or stop watching the show. The first few matches were good before it got kicked up a notch and we had two banger matches In Biff Vs Blake and Mike Vs Joey. The deathmatch portion of the show was alright, two acceptable deathmatches and a solid main event to close the show. The atmosphere was pretty solid throughout the whole night including the prominent singling of Biff’s theme throughout his match. The structure was slightly odd having all deathmatches at the end, but it wasn’t a deal breaker and the order was fine.

Matches: 0.50/1 Stars

Show Structure: 0.50/1 Stars

Atmosphere…: 0.75/1 Stars

Storytelling: 0.50/1 Stars

Production/Theme: 0.50/1 Stars

Overall Rating. 2.75/5 Stars

GCW is expanding its product into Japan

After a piece of breaking news by Game Changer Wrestling on Instagram, they announced that they’re ready to expand its product to Japanese Wrestling World on one of the biggest streaming platforms, Wrestle Universe. GCW will also include Japanese Commentary to make their product even more unique.

two GCW events will be available at Wrestle Universe on Friday 3 February 2022 at 6 pm. First, there is the big two-night GCW Homecoming 2021 with Matt Cardona winning the GCW Title as the main event the first night, as well as Drew Parker having a great deathmatch with Jimmy Lloyd on the second night. GCW will also release GCW Fight Club on their first day in Wrestle Universe when the dream match of Mox & Nick Gage happened in an amazing bout.

Wrestle Universe is a platform for Cyberfight Pro Wrestling. What makes it unique and interesting is that one of the shining GCW wrestlers out there, Ninja Mack, is slated to appear at NOAH’s Pro Wrestling soon. It is possible that GCW has a little partnership with Cyberfight and they can send their respective wrestlers to each company.

Definitely the most exciting announcement: Moxley is going back to the sacred circle after 2 and a half months. On January 23rd, he will have his return defending his GCW World Champions against his long-time friend Homicide.

This will be an incredible start to the year, and GCW promoter, Brett Lauderdale says there will be more like this to come this year: “We’re proud to kick off the new year with these shows, including The WRLD on GCW at the Hammerstein, the biggest event we’ve done yet. We’ve got notoriety, the best fans, and FITE on our side, and we’re going to keep adding more as we move through the year going to awesome venues like this giving people the authenticity they want from wrestling.”

So far the event will feature:

• GCW World Championship: Jon Moxley (c) vs. Homicide
• ROH World Championship: Jonathan Gresham (c) vs. Blake Christian
• Team Gringo (Gringo Loco, Arez, and Demonic Flamita) vs. Team Bandido (Bandido, Laredo Kid, and ASF)
• Appearance by Eddie Kingston
• Joey Janela vs Matt Cardona
• Ruby Soho vs. Allie Katch

The post Moxley Returns At The WRLD On GCW To Defend His Championship appeared first on Wrestling Republic.

After months of haitus, it looks like fans can look forward to seeing Jon Moxley back in a wrestling ring very soon.

Neither GCW nor Mox himself has confirmed anything yet. However, fans are speculating that we will see Mox back in action after Homicide won a Do or Die Rumble for a shot at the GCW World Championship. It makes sense for this match to go down at GCW’s The WRLD On GCW event on January 23 at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

At GCW’s Die 4 This pay-per-view this weekend, Homicide defeated Atticus Cogar, Gray, Jordan Oliver, Dark Sheik, Shane Mercer, Tony Deppen, Jack Cartwheel, Dante Leon, Ninja Mack, Nick Wayne, Matthew Justice, Cole Radrick, Allie Katch, G-Raver, Colby Corino, Billie Starkz, PCO, and Grim Reefer.

If Jon Moxley vs. Homicide does happen on January 23rd, this will be Moxley’s first appearance since going into inpatient alcohol treatment. Since Tony Khan first broke the news of Moxley’s absence, Khan has said: “I’ve talked to Renee (Paquette, Moxley’s wife) pretty much every day. And it seems like Jon’s doing better, which is great news for everybody. It’s great news for the fans, and especially for Jon and Renee, and for his friends of which I am one.”

So it seems that Mox is doing better and is physically and mentally more healthy. As fans, that is all we can hope for. Whenever Mox does choose to return, it’s no doubt that he will be stronger and better than ever. The prospect that his first match back will be against his long-term friends and fellow death match wrestler, Homicide, is incredibly exciting as well.

It is also interesting to speculate on what Moxley does next. Before his hiatus, Moxley was in the slow process of a heel turn in the AEW World Championship Elimination Tournament. He then had to be pulled from the tournament before the semi-finals and was replaced with Miro.

It seems the “Deathmatch King” has challenged a hardcore legend to a deathmatch.

Matt Cardona has had an eventful year from winning the GCW World Championship to appearing in many other promotions, now it seems Cardona is closing out the year with a challenge directed at Mick Foley to a deathmatch.

Matt Cardona would speak to Barstool Sports and talk about heading to Disneyland after winning the GCW title:

“I had all that bloody gear, bloody boots, and then TSA checked my bag and opened up my bag. It looked like I had murdered somebody, I just murdered his career. The next day I went to a nice little hotel in Los Angeles and took a nap. It was the Universal Studios hotel. Believe it or not, GCW doesn’t have a medical team. There was a, and I use the term loosely, a nurse backstage who stitched me up. She told me they were dissolvable. They were not. I ended up getting infected.”

(H/T – Wrestlinginc.com)

Then, Cardona discussed how he feels he had not been given credit for his work in deathmatch wrestling:

“F**k Mick Foley, That’s all I have to say. This guy, you’d think he’d be so proud of me. Fellow Long Islander, fellow death match king, but he’s turned his back on me. I don’t know what his deal is. I don’t know if it’s that I beat up his son-in-law Frank the Clown. I don’t know if he’s hot about that. I think he just needs to stop running his mouth. Right before I got released from WWE, my personal writer was Dewey Foley, Mick’s son. So, if Mick doesn’t shut the F**k up, I’m going to have Dewey Foley book me vs. Mick Foley in a death match, and of course I’m going to win.”

(H/T – Wrestlinginc.com)

Finally, Cardona talked about how the fans dictate how he acts within the squared circle:

“On these indie shows, I just stand there and I let the people dictate. Am I going to be a heel tonight, or am I going to be a babyface? I’m sure my opponent doesn’t like it, not knowing what kind of match we’re going to have, but that’s how I’ve been doing it, Sometimes total heel, sometimes total face, sometimes 50/50. It’s interesting because I haven’t really changed who I am. I’m a white meat babyface in my opinion. I don’t get why the GCW Universe doesn’t like me. I’m just there to help them. NWA? I’m just there to save NWA. When I was a six-year-old kid turning on NWA, I thought it sucked. I thought it was dated and boring. Even now I watch it, and it sucks. It’s old, dated, and boring. I’m there to help them out! That’s it. I want to be the face of the company. I want to help them. If they’re going to boo me, maybe that’ll change my attitude a little bit. Maybe I’ll throw up a middle finger every once in a while, but if they’re going to cheer me, I’ll slap those high fives,” Cardona continued. “It doesn’t change my move-set. It’s the same f**king moves. I’m not there to create f**king gifs. I’m there to create buzz and create dollar signs.”
