After Vince McMahon’s retirement Triple H returned to the head of creative department. With this backstage change several wrestlers returned to previous successful gimmicks the McMahon regime had abandoned.

One character that will be making a return is The Drifter Elias. Its been reported that Triple H disliked and changed the Ezekiel character almost immediately after coming into power. Giving Elias time off to grow his beard back and his hair longer.

“Elias returns on Raw on 10/17. He needed time off to grow back his beard and hair from the Ezekiel character. Triple H pretty much dropped Ezekiel as soon as he got power.”

WWE Ends Its Walk With Elias

The drifter Elias is set to make his return to WWE Monday Night Raw October 17th. We last saw Elias wrestle on the July 19, 2021 episode of red brand, losing to Jaxson Ryker in a ‘Symphony of Destruction match’.

Shortly after the loss WWE aired a vignette where Elias burned his guitar and walked off camera. This looked to be the end of the WWE’s ‘Walk with Elias’.

WWE Universe Speaks With Zeek

After more than half a year away from the ring Elias returned to Monday Night Raw after Wrestlemania. Debuting a new look consisting of a clean shaven face, shorter hair, and gold/ white trunks and claiming to be Ezekiel the younger brother of Elias.

After weeks of low key matches Ezekiel found himself in a feud with Kevin Owens. Owens was refusing to believe Ezekiel was Elias’s brother, and was in fact actually Elias himself.

They would feud for months with Kevin Owens never believing the two were brothers, constantly trying to convince anyone that would listen that Ezekiel was actually Elias.

On the June 20 episode of Monday Night Raw Elias made his return to the WWE. He was in an edited backstage segment of the two brothers having a conversation. Later that night Elias returned to the ring and performed a concert for the WWE universe before being interrupted by Kevin Owens.

Even after the backstage segment and the concert, Owens still refused to believe the two brothers were different people. His frustration reaching its peak he challenged Ezekiel, Elias or their ‘even younger brother Elrod’ to a match.

Ezekiel was stretchered out to an ambulance after Kevin Owens attacked him giving him an Apron Powerbomb. With a media photo WWE would give us one last look at Ezekiel in the hospital with his family at his bedside.

It now time for the WWE Universe to ‘Walk With Elias‘ again as we say goodbye to Ezekiel for now. What doe the future hold for the drifter upon his return? Will we ever see Ezekiel again? Could Elrod be joining his brothers some day down the road? Keep an eye on www.wrestlingrepublic.com to see where our walk with Elias takes us.

It was during the Raw after WrestleMania 38 that the world witnessed the debut of Elias’ younger brother Ezekiel.

Ever since his debut on the main roster, the WWE Universe immediately supported Ezekiel for his outstanding charisma and the funny segments that he starred.

During a recent interview with KTAL news’ Jezzamine Wolk and Fernanda Hernandez, Elias’ younger brother reflected on how he feels by performing with some of the best talent in the world, while also explaining that he feels ‘very blessed’ to have skipped NXT and getting to the main roster right away.

“I’m very blessed I was able to skip the whole NXT process and get right to the main roster,” Ezekiel said. “I think I’m growing leaps and bounds way more than I would anywhere else. I’m getting to mix it up with the top talent in the world on ‘Monday Night RAW’ every week. Sometimes ‘SmackDown.’ So that’s definitely where I want to be.” (H/T WrestlingInc)

He then revealed that he would love to have a WrestleMania dream match with his older brother, while also naming WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels as another strong option.

“I’d love to go one-on-one with my brother. I think that would just be a dream match. Me and him at WrestleMania in front of the world, that would be incredible. On top of that though, I got to say, Shawn Michaels. Michaels was always my favorite wrestler. The Heartbreak Kid. So that is a dream match for sure.” (H/T WrestlingInc)

Ezekiel has been engaged in an interesting rivalry with Kevin Owens ever since he first showed up on Raw.

It was also during this rivalry that we witnessed the return of his older brother Elias and the reveal that he also has a younger brother named Elrod.

As has become the norm with NXT call-ups, many fans worry for his future. Stars from the formally black and yellow brand have rarely found satisfactory success, with many being repackaged and subsequently rejected by the fans. However, Ciampa has recently expressed that he won’t find any issues with stories that many fans would have considered downgrading.

While speaking with Metro UK, Tommaso said that he won’t be hard to please as far as storylines and character work on the main roster. He stated that he’s more than happy to do anything the writers come up with for him as he won’t be hard to please.

“Creatively, I’m not very hard to please in the sense that I just view it as give me five minutes and I’ll make it the best five minutes I can, whatever that means, whatever I’m asked to do.

“If comedy is in my future, whatever it is, I don’t know. I just look at it like there’s no ending to this. So, if I do comedy for a couple of months, it doesn’t mean after that I can’t go back and do something else I might enjoy. There’s no ending.” (H/T WrestlingInc.com)

These comments from the new Raw star are a stark contrast with comments he had made years prior about preferring to retire instead of going to the main roster. He would later reiterate his sentiments after NXT transitioned into NXT 2.0. Other veterans of the third brand, such as Kyle O’Reilly and former DIY tag partner Johnny Gargano, left WWE late last year shortly after the change. It could very well be that his choice to accept a call-up came from the same reasoning as his colleague’s choice to leave.

He’ll likely explain his choice at later date. For now, fans wait to see what becomes of one of the cornerstones of NXT.
