Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin believes that Ric Flair wants to prove one last time why he’s the man. He says he believes his match is going to go great.
WWE Legend Stone Cold Steve Austin has been a Ric Flair fan ever since he was a kid. His admiration for the Nature Boy goes so deep that he even wanted Ric to induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame.
That being said, it’s no surprise that Austin had thoughts regarding Ric’s last match on July 31. After weeks of waiting to see who Ric’s opponent would be, it was revealed this week to be two people.
Ric will team with his son-in-law Andrade El Idolo to face the team of Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal. Austin spoke with Bill Apter of Sportskeeda this week about the match, and Austin believes it will go great.
“Well, it’s gonna be his final match, so I guess he’s in the mood to have one more go and to prove he was the man. I’ve said before that I think he was the greatest traveling world champion that there ever was. There’s a reason he had the belt as many times as he did because he was that damn good. He lived the lifestyle on the road to the nth degree, let’s say.
“For him to have his final match, I wish him nothing but the best. I hold him in the highest regard and have the highest respect for him,” Austin said. “I’m behind everything he does in the ring. So, I look forward to seeing it. I wish I could be there in person. Again, I’m not traveling anywhere right now, but I wish him all the best, and I know it’s gonna turn out great, and I can’t wait to watch it.” (H/T RingsideNews.com)
The match will be held as part of the Starcast wrestling convention event. Talent from AEW, Impact, and ROH will also be featured alongside Ric’s match, with multiple title matches set to happen.
There is concern for Flair’s health going into the match, but the legend has shown no intention of backing out. His Daughter Charlotte will be in attendance, as will other WWE stars.
We’ll have to wait until July 31 to see how Ric’s match plays out.
